Super super sad news. Wednesday, while the flocks were out, they were attacked by a fox. Normally, we don't see them out in the daytime. Nonetheless, our youngest, as he was coming home from school, heard and saw the commotion. His yelling caused the fox to drop the hen and run off into the woods.

By time I got down there, I spotted the hen, and after tracking the trail of feathers, found our big rooster, Bowser. He was alive, but I knew he wasn't making it. I made him comfortable and warm. Then that evening, he passed on.

No doubt he had put up a fight that allowed the flock to shatter.

Then hen, beside a little injury on her leg, is alive and back in the coop.

RIP Bowser. Going to miss your morning songs and your protection of the flock.
