Bear….My heart hurts for him everyday. We have had Bear in foster care for over a year. He came to us at 1 1/2 and he will turn 3 in July. We rescued Bear from a very bad situation. Although he was loved by his owner, the owners big heart got him trouble with too many dogs. When I met Bear he was skin and bones and petrified. It took no time for Bear to trust me and my husband. He gained weight, learned to play and smile. He was soon adopted. This is when we learned that Bear is a very nervous boy. Meeting new people was hard for him. Small children scared him with their quick movements. We took Bear back and sent him to a training facility for 6 months. We made great improvements with his confidence. Very obedient and loving with all who cared for him. However he still remains extremely cat aggressive and dog reactive. He reacts to dogs who challenges or shows aggression towards him. Sometimes in rescue we have to make hard decisions as to what’s best for the dog and for society safety. With Bear I am struggling the hardest. This boy is full of love and life. All he wants is to please and be loved. I feel in my heart his person is out there. There are plenty of dog reactive dogs out there living in loving homes. There many cat aggressive dogs living in harmony with their people. There people who don’t have small children living or visiting their home. Here in my home I have all of the above. So I have to keep him isolated and separate from our pack. He lives in our fenced backyard by day and brought in and crated by night. This is not the life he deserves or the life we want him to have. This is where I struggle….what is best for the dog? With no interest or adoptions in sight, how can I help Bear?
Third dump in a span of 2 months time. I know times are tough right now, I’m feeling the financial strain myself but we have always said if something happens in your life that you can no longer keep your pet adopted from us, contact us first. We will try our best to help you and even take them back for rehoming. This boy and the two other girls dumped in the wake county shelter did not deserve what they went through. My house is super full but I always try to make provisions. If you are interested in fostering this sweet boy or even adopting him. Message our page.
Fostering is a beautiful thing….
This is Bradshaw trying to get his foster Buddy(the black one ) This is 2 hours after his rescue. He was scared to death at the shelter. Look at him now❤️🐾
UPDATE: we rescued Nala the day we posted this. She is super sweet and is doing great. The cat and dog test is really important when placing them the correct foster home.
hoping we can save Nala before her end date at Randolph County. Here is her cat test. We can’t save her without a foster in place.
Good morning from Tutoes and Drew from the farm.
Percy was finally healed enough for his surgery. He is like a different cat now. No telling how long this boy has been living in pain. He has put on weight and his fur has more healthy looking without bare spots. Thanks to all who donated to his care.
Buffy Gang getting mobile and seeing the world for the first time
I swore I would not do this to myself again during kitten season but dag gone….How can I not save kittens born in feral colonies and moms that will be put down at shelters due to space? I currently have 5 litters and moms and two medical cases of adults who were injured. Yes you guessed it, we need kitten food, wet and dry. You can find a link on Amazon for our needs. Stay tuned for more introductions.
