Simple Starters:
If you’re just starting out, plant for success. Leafy greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach are beginner friendly, fast growing, and keep producing when you harvest the outer leaves.

Cherry tomatoes, bush beans, and zucchini are also easy to grow and reward you with plenty of food in a short time.

These crops don’t need a big garden, just sunlight, decent soil, and regular watering. The goal is to start with plants that make you feel like you’re winning, because once you taste that first harvest, you’ll want to keep going.

Which of these have you grown at home? Let us know in the comments below!

You don’t need land to grow food, just a bucket. A 5-gallon bucket, good soil, and sunlight is all it takes to grow tomatoes, peppers, greens, and herbs.

Just drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage, fill it with a mix of potting soil and compost, and water regularly. Place it somewhere with at least 6 hours of sun, and you’re growing.

Perfect for porches, balconies, or stoops. No yard, no excuses. Urban farming doesn’t have to be big, it just has to begin.

Have you ever grown out of a bucket? If so what? Let us know in the comments below!

Did you know a single 4x8 raised bed can grow over 100 pounds of food a year? That’s lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and more, right from your own backyard, balcony, or vacant lot.

Urban farming transforms unused space into abundance. It reduces grocery bills, fights food insecurity, and reconnects people, especially kids, with where food really comes from. Start small. Grow big. Change everything.

Do any of you grow in raised beds at home? Let us know in the comments below.

Informative Friday: Microgreens

Microgreens are tiny plants with huge benefits—packed with vitamins, easy to grow, and perfect for small spaces. All you need is a shallow tray, some soil, seeds (like radish, sunflower, or broccoli), and a sunny windowsill. Mist daily and in just 7–14 days, you’ll have fresh, nutrient-rich greens ready to cut and eat! 🥬✨

They’re fast, low-maintenance, and a great way to grow your own food at home—even if you don’t have a garden. Try it this weekend and let us know what you grow!

Calcium is one of the essential nutrients that chickens need. Oyster shells are a great calcium source, but so is their own eggshells💡 You can feed them what they lay after you enjoy eggs🥚 Toast them at 350° in oven for 5-10 minutes to enhance the flavor🔥 Then, mix them into their regular chicken feed. It’s better to blend it well to hide it into their regular feed so that they won’t taste them. It prevents them from developing a bad habit of eating their own eggs💯
