Our Story
Cats, Dogs, Horses, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Rats and Hedgehogs are typically at their happiest when they are in their own, comfortable, familiar environment and when their routines are maintained. As your pet’s caregiver while you are at work or on vacation, it gives me no greater pleasure than to ensure the comfort, happiness, safety & wellbeing of your beloved pet. I focus all my attention on your pet’s needs, giving your pet my undivided attention, engaging your pet in any activity he or she loves, working on socialization & training with your pet, enriching your pet’s life with fun, maintaining your pet’s natural routine, and monitoring & protecting his or her wellness. I treat your pet as if he or she were my own furry child, with love, care & attention. As an avid gardener and happy homemaker myself, I also enjoy taking care of house plants and gardens and caring for your home as if it were my own.
Veterinary Technician
As Veterinary Technician for 2.25 years at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the nation's largest animal sanctuary, I cared for cats, dogs and rabbits in a fast paced, state-of-the-art clinic. I treated a wide variety of medical issues, monitored anesthesia and assisted in surgery from dentals to spays/neuters to abdominal and orthopedic surgeries. I furthered my skills in insulin testing and injection, tube feeding, fluid therapy, oral medication, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, as well as gained skills in monitoring vitals, including temperature, heart rate, respiration and blood pressure, post-op physical therapy, chemotherapy preparation and administration, blood transfusions, blood draws, catheter setting, lab work, etc. I was also the visiting vet tech for the Rabbit Dept, performing medical treatments for all the rabbits. Just prior to being a vet tech at Best Friends, I was the organization's very first 4-Month Intern in their new intensive internship program, where I performed all duties of a Cat Caregiver in Cat World at the Sanctuary.
As the sole Vet Tech for 2 years at Village House Call Vet, NYC's premier veterinary house call service for cats and dogs, I gained extensive experience in handling cats and dogs in their own home and caring for their nursing needs, from tube feeding, to intramuscular insulin injections, to subcutaneous fluid therapy, to oral medications, to blood draws. Working with mentor Dr. Carolyn Quagliata, DVM, CVA, I honed my skills in animal handling and customer service for the families who love their pets. I love to help your pet feel well.
Rabbit Rescue & Rehabilitation
As a core member for 5 years of Rabbit, Rescue & Rehab, the NYC Chapter of the National House Rabbit Society, I rehabilitated ill and injured house rabbits and helped find them their forever homes. My home was sanctuary to a wide variety of medical needs rabbits where I honed my skills in rabbit handling and medicating, working with mentor Dr. Anthony Pilny, DVM, Avian and Exotic Vet and National Medical Director for the United States House Rabbit Society. I love to educate the public on proper rabbit husbandry and how to coexist with a free-roaming rabbit in your home.
My dream is that my life’s work is revolved around animals. As I continue to love, protect and care for my own beautiful animal family at home, I was for 5 years pursuing a career as a veterinarian, having completed all but 2 of my pre-requisite courses in science and math, with a 3.9 GPA, several thousands of hours of experience as a volunteer, intern and vet tech, and great letters of recommendation. But at the 11th hour, I realized I had loved being a veterinary nurse so much more than I wanted to be a veterinarian. The nursing side is where I feel I belong. I will continue to work to end animal cruelty and promote compassionate living through rescue, education and advocacy.
