Genevieve's Animal Care Pet Sitting Cat, Dog, Rabbit, Horse, Goat, Chicken, Guinea Pig, Hamster, Rat, Lizard, Hedgehog, Bird & Fish Care in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Our Cat, Dog, Rabbit, Horse, Goat, Chicken, Guinea Pig, Hamster, Rat, Lizard, Hedgehog, Bird & Fish family members are typically at their happiest when they are in their own, comfortable, familiar environment and when their routines are maintained. As your pet’s caregiver while you are at work or on vacation, it gives me no greater pleasure than to ensure the comfort, happiness, safety & wellbeing

of your beloved pet. I focus all my attention on your pet’s needs, giving your pet my undivided attention, engaging your pet in any activity he or she loves, working on socialization & training with your pet, enriching your pet’s life with fun, maintaining your pet’s natural routine, and monitoring & protecting his or her wellness. I treat your pet as if he or she were my own furry child, with love, care & attention. As an avid gardener and happy homemaker myself, I also enjoy taking care of house plants and gardens and caring for your home as if it were my own. Veterinary Technician
As Veterinary Technician for 2.25 years at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the nation's largest animal sanctuary, I cared for cats, dogs and rabbits in a fast paced, state-of-the-art clinic. I treated a wide variety of medical issues, monitored anesthesia and assisted in surgery from dentals to spays/neuters to abdominal and orthopedic surgeries. I furthered my skills in insulin testing and injection, tube feeding, fluid therapy, oral medication, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, as well as gained skills in monitoring vitals, including temperature, heart rate, respiration and blood pressure, post-op physical therapy, chemotherapy preparation and administration, blood transfusions, blood draws, catheter setting, lab work, etc. I was also the visiting vet tech for the Rabbit Dept, performing medical treatments for all the rabbits. Just prior to being a vet tech at Best Friends, I was the organization's very first 4-Month Intern in their new intensive internship program, where I performed all duties of a Cat Caregiver in Cat World at the Sanctuary. As the sole Vet Tech for 2 years at Village House Call Vet, NYC's premier veterinary house call service for cats and dogs, I gained extensive experience in handling cats and dogs in their own home and caring for their nursing needs, from tube feeding, to intramuscular insulin injections, to subcutaneous fluid therapy, to oral medications, to blood draws. Working with mentor Dr. Carolyn Quagliata, DVM, CVA, I honed my skills in animal handling and customer service for the families who love their pets. I love to help your pet feel well. Rabbit Rescue & Rehabilitation
As a core member for 5 years of Rabbit, Rescue & Rehab, the NYC Chapter of the National House Rabbit Society, I rehabilitated ill and injured house rabbits and helped find them their forever homes. My home was sanctuary to a wide variety of medical needs rabbits where I honed my skills in rabbit handling and medicating, working with mentor Dr. Anthony Pilny, DVM, Avian and Exotic Vet and National Medical Director for the United States House Rabbit Society. I love to educate the public on proper rabbit husbandry and how to coexist with a free-roaming rabbit in your home. My dream is that my life’s work is revolved around animals. As I continue to love, protect and care for my own beautiful animal family at home, I was for 5 years pursuing a career as a veterinarian, having completed all but 2 of my pre-requisite courses in science and math, with a 3.9 GPA, several thousands of hours of experience as a volunteer, intern and vet tech, and great letters of recommendation. But at the 11th hour, I realized I had loved being a veterinary nurse so much more than I wanted to be a veterinarian. The nursing side is where I feel I belong. I will continue to work to end animal cruelty and promote compassionate living through rescue, education and advocacy. 💗🐾💗🐾 From my friend Whitney, their foster mom:

🐾 All we want is a loving home together.

🐾 My name is Sheldon (I’m a gorgeous Russian Blue). My foster mom says I’m handsome and oh so sweet. I love to snuggle! This is my brother Ghost… I love him so much because he grooms me and takes care of me. He is a love bug and very playful!

🐾 Our previous owner died, and we lived alone in an empty apartment for many months. We have been living with Whitney since April but she can no longer keep us. Won’t you be our person? We are good with dogs, cats and kids. Please share our story. Please adopt us. Located in South Orange, New Jersey. Healthy and neutered boys. Sheldon is around eight years old. Ghost is four.

As Best Friends Animal Society's first 4-month intern, in Cat World, back in the fall of 2012, I voiced many a video narration for them, pro-bono of course, for the Welcome Center and YouTube channel. I also was featured in the magazine and on tabletop ads at Angel Village, the lunch room, for the clinic and the Internship Program. As a vet tech at the Clinic in 2013 and 2014 through spring of 2015, and the thrice-weekly visiting vet tech for the Rabbit Dept, I am happy to still be featured in the video about the state-of-art clinic that I helped get set up in March 2014!

So proud of Julie & the team at Best Friends! This rocks! 🐾🧡

KANAB, Utah -- Best Friends Animal Society launched its new mobile spay/neuter clinic to help pets and their owners with low-cost veterinary services in the Navajo Nation April 26.

Celebrating with staff, volunteers, and supporters, Best Friends CEO Julie Castle was among the speakers.

“Navajo Nation is so vast, with 16 million acres, yet it only has four veterinarians,” she said. “Best Friends has done work on the Navajo Nation since I’ve been here in the mid-1990s. The difference is that today we have a partnership.”

That partnership includes working with former Navajo Nation first lady Phefelia Nez, who is on the Best Friends Animal Society Board of Directors. Nez, a lifelong animal lover, was excited to be part of the team that brought the project to fruition.

“You don’t see many of these units out there. This is such a huge help for our communities and their pets,” Nez said. “Thank you on behalf of Navajo Nation.”

Castle introduced Navajo Nation graphic designer Aurelia Yazzie, who created the look of the mobile unit, which will provide 1,250 additional spay/neuter surgeries annually in the area.

“It’s important to have input from the community,” Castle said. “This clinic will save so many lives and propel us forward to building a better world through kindness to animals.”

Before touring guests aboard the clinic, a ribbon was cut by Michelle Weaver, Director of Sanctuary Outreach and Paul Kiel, Maintenance Manager, of Best Friends, as well as donors and volunteers Marty and Brenda Winnick and Nez.

The clinic was dedicated to the late Dr. Bill Christy, a local veterinarian that provided care to Sanctuary animals for many years since Best Friends’ inception in 1984, whose family was in attendance. As founder and Chairman of the Board Francis Battista noted, “There would be no Best Friends without Dr. Christy.”

Best Friends work on the Navajo Nation is part of its overall goal to make America a no-kill country in 2025. Best Friends partners with dozens of rescues and animal welfare organizations to help the four Navajo Nation shelters with pets in need of homes. Currently about 2,000 dogs and cats are transported to lifesaving partners every year, including Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and a foster program focused on saving more is in the works in Phoenix.
