Cleaning out the white silkie bath products

Wash them with whatever, Dawn, Suave, Tide, whatever you want. Rinse well. Use white distilled vinegar to cut the soap. Rinse again.

Use Orvus as a paste. Use your hand, reach in, get a handful, rub it all over the silkie, (keep out of eyes. Can't believe I have to say it. But u know) Use a flea comb and comb the feathers to get the orvis in the feathers real good. Wrap up like a baby, swaddle for a good 20 min.
Rinse well.

If you see any more stains...do it again!
Again and again if necessary.

Use the showsheen and green spot remover too. Follow the directions.

This may be a little less for me as my chickens eat the same feed their whole lives . (Allflock Kalambach ) but it's a good reminder to look at !

Also please remember we also have to raise the boys for the same price .. then rehome or sadly cull or auction boys that no one wants 🥹

As someone striving for SOP there are also so many that we cull( do not keep in breeding program ) before laying again for multiple reasons . If I have a hen laying age she has probably made 2/3 cuts in breeders already

This my friends is why a quality laying silkie hen is not cheap ! These are , our pets , friends , loves , and passion..
this hobby is all consuming please remember that when see sticker shock !

I got an update from eggs that I sent to New York. They arrived safely thankfully. I put a lot of effort into packing so I'm glad it paid off

Save the date!!! We are pleased to announce that we have secured the Eastern Nationals for 2025.

This will be our second year hosting the Silkie Spring Fling, all silkie show.

A few of our goals for this show are the following:

a. Have as much fun as we did this past year
b. Continued learning sessions
c. Help all who have questions and encourage those who are interested in learning of the breed to attend. We met several awesome people this past year and looking forward to meeting more and talking to them on how they can join and get involved in the American Silkie Bantam Club.

CLAIMED:I have more eggs available. Don't kill me but I've been lazy this summer and haven't labeled them but blue black splash and paint possible. Hens choice from all three pens. Shipping out Tuesday. I will have enough for 2 dozen likely. Local pick up is always welcome. FYI I do occasionally get blue from paint.

I had to move this sweet girl out of the bbs pen I to the paint. The black roo is so much easier on this timid gal. I guess I will eventually get chicks off this pair. We will see how it goes. She is still super nervous s.
