Arrow has been meeting new friends and Is always up for a good time! Hes a happy hound mix that loves other dogs, Kids, and thinks cats are pretty fun tooā¦although they may not share his enthusiasm! Yesterday we were notified Red He was nearing his 30 days and deteriorating rapidly in the stressful shelter environment. We didnāt have a foster but He needed out asap! So in the car I go to pick him up! Weāre calling him Rhettā¦same sound as Red but more fitting for this handsome fella! We spent the afternoon in nature getting in some good sniffs, looking for minnows in the river, chasing lizards, and soaking in the beautiful day. After he fell asleep in the car with his head on my hand the whole drive. This incredibly handsome and happy boy was finally able to rest. I didnāt have the heart to wake him so we sat in the parking lot for a good while before his next adventure. Rhett was welcomed in to @houndstownbeachblvd with open arms and belly rubs . Hes already made some new friends and will play all day while we seek a foster or adopter! If you can foster Rhett please let us know š”š¾ Heās lived with big and small dogs. Please share him!
Big News!! š„³ Raven received her freedom ride from Hamilton County Animal Control today!
I promised her I would get her out of there and 1 week later we did just that! ā¤ļøš¾Sheās settling in nicely with her foster ...very likely forever ā¤ļø Sadly Raven has tested a strong HW positive and will be taking on fast kill treatment over the Next few months. Rileyās rescue
It was Thursday at 430 ā¦.30 minutes to his scheduled euthanasia with no rescue. no foster. and no plan. Riley was abandoned in the woods with theo other dogs. His companions were foundā¦Riley went unnoticed and endured more suffering. As he sat tied to a tree alone and starved, he was tied so tight he could not lay down. Sores appeared from the tree roots pressing into his backside.
Riley has Heartworms, he has an undiagnosed mass above his front paw, his skin is irritated. I could not take him on without help. I sat with Riley. I loved him and gave him special treats. After that i sat in my car and cried. Ugly Cried that happy quirky dog wouldnāt ever see kindness and love of a family. Iām not cut out for Euthanasia but who isā¦
So i called the shelter manager. I begged for a small extension...we had until 9am.
Thatās when the magic happened!
This amazing network of dog lovers in NE florida shared him, they pledged for his boarding, his vet bills, medical sponsorships! A friend of @travisrescuesdogs came forward to help foster. I placed Riley on rescue hold and went back for him the next morning. His face when he knew he was safe is what rescue is all about! We are taking it slow and letting him settle in. Heās been doing amazing with his foster as we begin his journey getting him back to health and into a loving forever home.
