I would like to wish all my clients a very Happy Yuletide and a healthy amd prosperous new year.

We have a new house guest who joined us just before christmas having spent his life so far in a cage and being underweight and very nervous. He is having the Auntie Shelley love and magic treatment and we are hoping to find him a wonderful forever home in the new year so if you know anyone who may be interested in finding out more about him send me a message.

Be aware and keep your pets safe

We have had a few cases of mycotoxin poisoning recently. Its not a poisoning that folks are generally familiar with, so we thought we'd share the information to raise awareness.-

Ingestion of mouldy food from the bin or a compost pile puts dogs, cats, horses, livestock, and even wildlife at risk for toxicity due to tremorgenic mycotoxins. These toxins may be found in MOULDY bread, pasta, cheese, nuts, or other decaying matter like compost. Clinical signs include vomiting, agitation, incoordination, tremors, seizures, and elevated body temperature. A specific mycotoxin called aflatoxin can even cause liver failure. Be sure to keep mouldy food and compost out of your pets reach!

Why Your Dog’s GI Tract Is Crucial to Their Immunity

Our dogs and cats GI tract is the epicenter of their immune system! If your pets are unfortunate to be bombarded with everything from food allergens, toxins and prescribed medication, bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi and stress their immune systems could be compromised. Only a single cell layer separates the inside of your pet’s gut from 80% of their immune system. This biofilm we like to think of as a gooey bomb shelter or shield for all the GOOD gut bacteria, yeast, and parasites to hide under so they can survive even the strongest antibiotics and anti-fungals (natural or medication) that would potentially kill them off.
Biofilm start out with individual bacteria and when conditions are favorable, they start forming communities by adhering to the surface, like the gut walls.
