My name is Giovanna and I am a horseaholic. I was born and raised in Germany, and have since lived fairly all over the globe. Ever since I first started to stick my nose into a pony’s tail at the age of 6, and then finally was allowed to start riding at the age of 11 I was never far from stables where horses were near. When I lived in the USA I took two years of college education with focus on Equ

ine management and training. I worked for various farms and stables, and while I am no trainer, instructor, or teacher, I have solid experience on how to swing a manure fork and keep horses and pastures happy and healthy.

4 years ago, I fell into luck and my husband and I were able to purchase beautiful 9 acres in Mount Cotton, only 40 minutes south of Brisbane. Here, we have a 60x20m floodlit ELD Dressage arena, a floodlit 40x40 grass arena with some jumps for your use, 10 paddocks, 8 stables, 15m round pen (grass), and trails just across the road leading into the Sandy Creek Conservation Area. I’m a member of RASDEG and happy to bring any other Dressage enthusiast along to our various shows, events, clinics, etc. We are also less than 10km away from the Redlands Bay Horse & Pony Club, and equally as close to various experienced instructors and trainers. We welcome your own instructors and trainers to come here to teach, and we host clinics at a regular basis. You are a trainer and need to hire an arena for clinics? When I am not neck-deep in horse related stuff, I enjoy board games, reading, video games, hosting BBQs, and pursuing opportunities for continuing education in all horse-related fields. So, if you are looking for clinics, arena to hire, or want to take part in some of the clinics we host with a variety of trainers, give me a ring, or send me a message.

Arena maintenance is so vital for any business where riding facilities make or break your livelihood 🙂
I take the care of my arena very seriously. Not only do I drag and clean it regularly, we also have professional services done.

Every 3 months we have Garry from Rake It Up - Horse Arena Maintenance visit to give it the finer details clean. Clearing out the drainage, cleaning the edges, straightening and leveling the sand, etc.
By the time he is done, the arena looks like the first day and feels phenomenal to ride on!

As promised, I wanted to show some pictures of the finished stable yards.
We managed to complete the project just in time for another week worth of sky water.

The stables held up well (in total we had a bit over 30mm), with two stables having a bit of a wash through, but minimal sand lost. Given the water flow, there is one hole I want to plug, but other than that, they held up well.

2 days of dry weather had the yards drained, and while the sand is still a tad damp, it isn’t a mud pit. So I’m pleased with the result.

The area around the manure lost a bit of aggregate in the rain and a new small pond opened up on its edge, but the access to the pile stayed dry - which I am also very pleased with 😀

Enjoy the pictures :)

Every big rain, most of my stable yards turned into those mud baths that took ages to dry out.
We finally are fixing them up.

40mm aggregate on the bottom will provide mud stabilisation and hopefully disperse the ground water (please, next rain, don’t turn me into a liar!).
Crusher dust is compacted on top, and in order to provide the horses with a bit of a softer surface than compacted crusher dust, the yards will be topped with a layer of medium coarse sand 🙂

Finished photos will follow when we are finished!

Bit of a big update of things happening here at Netherfield’s.
The first half of 2021 has been keeping us on our toes with loads of stuff happening.

We started working out back and cutting a trail into our two bush acres. Once that is done, hopefully by the end of the year, we’ll have a small cross country course going in.

Then of course we had our beautiful arena put in, and have been loving every minute of it. It is bliss to ride on!

We have started hosting clinics here and again, I absolutely love the opportunity to offer my space so many great coaches, of which both my local dressage friends and my agistees benefit greatly.

We have monthly sessions with Anjanette Harten here, had a clinic with Gary Lung here and have the pleasure of him returning g for another full day clinic in September.
We also now added Kassie Southwell to our clinic roster and will be offering mid-week clinics as well as weekend dates with her.

I’m always looking into bringing great coaches in and absolutely love the local horse community for the wealth of knowledge and opportunity here.

This first half of 2021 concludes with me having turned 40! We had a huge and fun party here with BBQ Bubbles and Beer, the best friends one could hope for, and finally temperatures that make the outside fun to be in.
Both cats, people and horses live this time of year here and Queensland 🙂

Love to everyone who makes my live here so fantastic!

Here is to a wonderful second half of 2021, and a further fun 40 years!!!

Netherfield - a full-care agistment facility

Hi and welcome to Netherfield. Recently I fell into luck and my husband and I were able to purchase beautiful 9 acres in Mount Cotton, only 40 minutes south of Brisbane. Here, we have a 60x20m floodlit Dressage arena, filled with ELD sand, 10 paddocks, 8 stables, 15m round pen, and trails just across the road leading into the Sandy Creek Conservation Area. I’m a member of RASDEG and happy to bring any other Dressage enthusiast along to our various shows, events, clinics, etc. We are also less than 10km away from the Redlands Bay Horse & Pony Club, and equally as close to various experienced instructors and trainers. We welcome your own instructors and trainers to come here to teach, and I strive to host clinics at least once a year.

The vet I use (Chris Wain) is only a 10 minute drive up the road, and Sam Buchanan is the farrier for my own horse. Both are happy to pick up new customers, however you are equally welcome to bring your established vets and farriers in :) When I am not neck-deep in horse related stuff, I enjoy board games, reading, video games, hosting BBQs, and pursuing opportunities for continuing education in all horse-related fields.

So, if you are looking for a place to not only have your horse taken care of, but also enjoy some time off, hanging out with friends, enjoying quiet and adventurous times together with welcoming people, give me a ring, or send me a message.
