today I put Rudy in a pretty difficult environment by having him be my helper at a busy event. It's an overwhelming environment and we were sitting behind a table with high value treats on it. He got a little stiff with dogs coming up to me so we worked on rewarding him anytime a dog passed us or was interacting with us. he was a good demo dog but he's still only a year old and still learning. I also was able to get an example of training vs. management on this video. I began to lose his attention and the situation was harder for him, so I managed the situation by putting him in the office! management helps by avoiding the undesirable behaviors from happening and becoming an engrained response. I take behavior as information and I saw today based on Rudy's behavior that I need to work on his feelings about kids (kids are scary) and his feelings about other dogs approaching me while I have food. I am proud of him for handling today as well as he did, we'll work hard so next time he does even better.

We had a great time at Dog Day of Summer! Thank you to everyone who came out and learned a trick and talked about dogs with me. And thank you to my real estate team @themainstreetteam for having such a great location!
If my dogs encounter a problem that I think they can solve on their own I let them. this is a great way to help them think independently to problem solve and to build confidence. Rudy (black dog) is a year old and I have been seeing an improvement with his problem solving, so when I saw his ball roll into some brush I wanted to see how he'd approach it. he was apprehensive because of the location but he didn't give up immediately. Indy has helped him find balls that he loses by running to them and showing him where they are. I loved watching Indy try to show him a better way to approach the brush to get the ball, and then ultimately decide to get it herself to help him (or to help me). dogs are smart and I love watching them problem solve, so I hope you enjoy watching their brains work too.

Fetch is one of our favorite and most used cues! Do you know how great it is to have a dog who can pick up objects for you? Sometimes I'm walking around the house and Indy is next to me and I see something on the ground. Well I don't feel like bending down and picking it up but you know who's really close to the ground? INDY! Watch her pick up some lotion for me while I lounge on the couch.

phin is afraid of people and unfortunately he shows that by trying to get space from them. one of the most effective ways to get space is to lunge and snap. we are working on making him feel safe around people by using pattern games and creating a safe space (his place bed) when new people are around. he did great and even gave loose tail wags to me from afar!
Ivy doesn't like when other people leash her! we've been working at it for about 4 sessions now and took it at her pace. we spent time working on generalized impulse control, start buttons, and conditioning her to reaching and putting her head through something. very happy with a successful leashing today. important to note that today is the first time I actually leashed her. I've done the hoop "trick" with her before but didn't fully leash her. I am happy she's feeling confident and comfortable enough to be leashed by me!!

Our empathy is not a fault, it's a power. love all my fellow bad bitches training their dogs with love, compassion, and empathy. 💛

he does a pretty good job holding his sh*t together but he's still a puppy at the end of the day.

Nefi worked on place today! we're going to use place as a way to redirect her from guests because she can be a little overzealous when people come over! having a reinforced place to be redirected to can help her get distance and relax instead of working herself up.

I love all of the products I've gotten from @off.road.k9 so it made sense to get new 6 ft leashed from them! They came out so well, and I think Rudy looks real good in line green!
Lloyd gets real fixated on squirrels and doesn't budge when he's stalking them. we worked on getting in sync by moving in random directions and rewarding for him syncing back up to Mom. when that was easy at a distance and he stayed synced up to Mom we got closer to the squirrel haven! he did great!!

It's not easy but it's worth it! I love being able to let my dogs move freely and be dogs. Now if you have a dog that doesn't have a reliable recall they can live a very happy and fulfilled life on a long line! But let them play in the mud too, you'll be happy you did.
I'm just going to make this page a dog training meme account instead of a business account if you guys don't take capcut away from me soon.

one of my favorite ways to work on loose leash walking is actually with an long lead! we started by giving Ozzie about 15 feet of leash and rewarding any time he got to his mom's side. this is also great for him because it teaches him to follow our body movements which will help with reactivity. we did this in a parking lot between a group of kids playing softball and the dog park he goes to so this was a hard spot for him! when he stayed at Mom's side consistently we shortened the leash little by little until we got back onto the regular leash that they use. we're going to start adding in the cue "with me!" next to be able to call him into a heel walk.
Happy dog moms day!! My dog mom clients work so hard and they deserve a little special recognition. Thank you for helping your dog feel safe and confident every day through every obstacle. They love you very much.
And if you need a dog walker or pet sitter that will support your training goals, check out @pawsitivevibesonly_
. They are so great with all dogs, especially reactive pups!
Disclaimer! I have some really great dog dad clients too but more often than not the dad is the party parent 🥳. But I love when a dad puts that fanny pack on and gets to #werk . My dogs don't have a dad so I'm also the party parent, don't worry.

Cleo and Nefi are also new today! Cleo is the larger lady and she has a burst of energy late at night. Her family wanted to figure out a way to get that energy out without having to walk her in the city. We talked about scavenger hunts in the house and indoor agility. Both of the girls were passed out by the time I left. That gooooooood sleep.

Today I got to work with Eldridge from @phillybullyteam . He is working on alternate behaviors to help decrease jumping on his fosters for attention or when he's over stimulated. We worked with a barrier so he can't practice the behavior. We also worked on calming after high arousal (peep the rug from him playing tug). We tried a little free shaping of place to work on his frustration tolerance and problem solving skills but we didn't have a ton of brain power left at that point. We finished off settling in the living room! His fosters have been great and putting in a lot of work to make Eldridge the best version of himself for his future home!

Today Rosie worked on releasing a toy with an "out!" cue! We were even able to work up to doing out from a distance with a recall. Rosie is a smart girl who just needs that brain WERKED.
also I had to use this sound because it automatically lined up the word leap with Rosie's jump 🤣🤣.
