Elbow dysplasia is not as well know as his cousin Hip dysplasia.
If not diagnosed early, the pet will get early arthritis. If you notice your dog has a front limb limp have him evaluated.
Common breeds are: Bearded Collie, Bernese Mountain Dog, Chow Chow, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Newfoundland, Rottweiler, St. Bernard, Bassett Hound.
However any breed can be affected

Do you ever wonder if you should take your pet to the ER?

Here are examples of emergency cases;

- Profuse bleeding
- Difficulty breathing
- Seizures
- Abdominal bloat
- Possible poisoning
- Eye trauma
- Heat stroke
- Loss of consciousness
- Severe motor impairment
- Hit by car and other traumas
- Difficulty or inability to urinate
- Euthanasia

Here are examples of urgent cases (not emergencies);

- Ear infections/ irritation
- Eye infection/swelling/discharge
- Abscess
- Vomiting/ diarrhea
- Mild allergic reaction
- Open wound
- Skin concerns
- Limping
- Blood in urine (possible UTI)
- Respiratory infection/cough
