Javier is javi-here to steal ya girl!

Are you looking for a GIANT lap cat who wants to snuggle the day away?

Javier is the size of a small Maine C**n. We don’t know if he’s actually a mix, but we suspect based on his size and floof, that it’s very likely. Though he currently weighs 12.5lbs, he’s a little underweight and should be closer to 14 lbs. Now that he’s no longer living on the streets and has plenty of access to food, he should get to be an even bigger boy in no time!

Javier is as friendly as they come-there’s not a human he hasn’t liked yet! His affectionate nature suggests he would do well with children. We don’t know how he’d do around dogs, but with his chill purrsonality, he should adjust to a cat-friendly dog just fine. His relaxed demeanor around cats suggests he could also adapt to a cat companion. Basically he’s your all-around good-natured, gentle giant!

Beyond his charming personality, Javier is a sight to behold with his luxurious floof and striking ticked tabby pattern. When he’s content, he proudly displays his fluffy tail like a little squirrel. We have some exciting news! Blessing found her forever home yesterday! She’ll be her new mom’s first cat and will have a dog sibling. It was a little strange not having her yell at us for breakfast this morning, but we’re so excited she found her forever place! 💕

(Blessing was likely adopted as a "covid kitten" in 2020 and then surrendered to an overcrowded shelter in Texas (due to no fault of her own) with the threat of euthanasia around the corner. Luckily, she was able to make her way to Colorado to find a home! She's now been waiting months for someone to choose her and hopes she finds her new human soon!)

Meet the new babies! In order, they are Opal, Jasper, Onyx, and Jade. Two boys and two girl mini panthers. We are proud to say we can already tell them apart! 😸 can you?? These kiddos were pulled from a municipal shelter in Texas a few weeks ago and spent some time in foster gaining weight. At just 1.5 lbs, they still need some more chonking up before they’ll be able to get speutered and be adopted. We think they’re around 8 weeks old.

Meet Rudy, Thistle, and Randy! These three boys came from a hoarding situation on New Mexico, where 60 cats were living! We’re grateful we could help at least 3 of them. They are extremely friendly and affectionate and great with other cats. They’ll be available for adoption very soon! Welcome, boys!

Our very first intake! 🎉Aptly named, Miss Liberty 🗽got her freedom ride from Texas on Friday, but between the long trip and the insane wind storm we had in Colorado this weekend, she’s been understandably a little freaked out. It’s happening!! ⬇️

I’ve got some biiiiiig news to share! ⬇️

Denver Kittens Org is now a PACFA-licensed, 501c3 nonprofit!

After 5 years of fostering nearly 300 animals, I decided it was time for a change. Throughout the years, many people have told me I should start my own non-profit, but I brushed it off. I’ve worked in non-profits most of my adult life, and the whole thing seemed daunting. I just wasn’t sure starting one was for me.

And then last year, Youngest Old Cat Lady died by su***de, and it absolutely rocked me to the core. I didn’t know her at all, and yet I was completely devastated. I wondered about the massive void that was now left in the animal welfare space and decided it was finally time to step up and do more. Two weeks later, I filed the name Denver Kittens as an official business in the state of Colorado, and now today, after nearly a year of paperwork and approvals, Denver Kittens, the non-profit, is officially born.

What does this mean?

Denver Kittens will primarily focus on spay and neuter, through supporting TNR projects and increasing access to spay and neuter in the community. The ultimate goal will be to one day have a spay clinic.

But of course! We can’t forget our roots. We’ll maintain a rescue component, and I will continue to foster cats and kittens in need, so we will still have kitties in need of medical care and forever homes.

HOW YOU CAN HELP!
