Bethel Friends of Canines Bethel Friends of Canines started in the summer of 2011 in the small rural village of Bethel, Alaska. We rescue on average 525 animals a year!

Bethel Friends of Canines is a community organization that works with local governments and volunteers to find homes for abandoned and neglected animals, and to better the life of canines in Bethel and the Yukon–Kuskokwim Delta. We work to find permanent homes for the abandoned and neglected dogs of our community. We work closely with larger rescues in the Anchorage/Mat-Su area, which is almost 35

0 air miles away, to find loving forever homes. As well as forever homes, we also help community members spay and neuter their dogs and help with the overall care of canines in our community. We are volunteer based, so if you would like to join an organization that is doing incredible things, we'd love to have you on our team!

These pups are not impressed with my singing and dancing while I put kennels together to go out to villages for dogs to come in, trying to avoid the feeling of overwhelmingness that is looming.
Get yur damn dogs fixed. We have free spay/neuter clinics in Bethel at least every month and are hoping to increase it. This is open to everyone in the YK delta region at no cost. There is no reason to be having so many pregnant dogs anymore

With the impending arrival of a bunch of mama dogs and pups we could use some help with puppy food. Our stock is low (only 2 bags at the moment) We normally use the Pedigree puppy food.
If anyone would be willing to donate a bag we would surely appreciate it. 6 or 7 bags should get us through this rush 🤞

We have a huge waiting list, most are mamas with pups on the ground, they are at risk of being given away if we don't act quick. Which will just make more work for us in the future.

If you can foster please please let me know!

A forewarning, we are so tired of being accused of stealing people's dogs, I mean it happens all the dang time. First and foremost, we do not steal dogs. We don't have the time nor energy to go out stealing dogs. Plus it's illegal, I prefer not having to worry about being shanked by my celly. We have enough dogs to care for and spay/neuter clinics going on to worry about. It's hard to steal a dog that's being cared for and supervised. Now if a dog is owner surrendered or brought to the pound and unclaimed then yes it becomes ours. Not an in a month I suddenly care about my dog and want it back, that ship has sailed honey. The city of Bethel posts every single animal that comes into the pound as a stray, if your animal goes missing be responsible and look for it. I am happy to screen shot the accusations and tell the story of how we got the dog.

Nova the No Grow showing us that middle aged ladies still got some game Check out this super sweet girl looking for her forever home. She is potty and kennel trained. Does well with other dogs, but isnt too keen on other 4 legged things coming near her food bowl (I get it, I get it, I don't wanna share my food either!)

Safe to say Alula is settling into her foster home quite well. She's a sweet girl, loves to go on walks, and snuggle

When the planes are full and weather isn't cooperating this is how we do it! We had 5 dogs from Napakiak that needed to go home. We drove out in the car Friday midmorning to get them and by evening river conditions deteriorated so much vehicle travel was not safe. Today we loaded up the sled and rode out to bring them home. Thanks Bob for bringing them home!

Bronx went out on an off leash walk and he did pretty darn good! He loved smelling all the smells and getting some of that pent up energy out.

Good morning from Bronx! He started the day with a nice long walk and then a puzzle. He would rather start it with some belly rubs and a queen bed to sleep on If you'd like to add Bronx to your family please send us a message

Stay safe out there everyone. Bethel along with other villages are getting hit hard with storm and are flooding. If you have outside pets please bring them inside, or unchain them so they can get to safety. Thanks Jessica for the video

Don't sleep on the dogs we have up for adoption right now!! They might not be tiny puppies, they're better: cute, sweet and have some brains! Bear is the bestest boy, he does great with other dogs and walks fantastic on leash.

Rosie playing with a toy, she wasn't too sure at first what to do with it, especially when it squeaked. This girl is so sweet, she will make a great addition to a loving home.

Oakley went out on a walk today. He did great meeting people along the way, he walks great on leash (doesn't pull after a bit because he is sooo excited!), he sits when waiting to cross the street. If you're looking for a super happy exuberant guy, here he is!
