We just saw an updated article regarding the respiratory illness affecting dogs this winter, and wanted to share it! From what we understand, this virus is transmitted by “nose to nose” contact or through water/food bowl sharing. Since your dog is the only dog on the van at the time of the appointment, nose to nose contact is not a risk. Also we do not use kennels, so shared bowls or enclosed areas are also not a risk. Some veterinarians are recommending not taking your dog to the groomer, but they are talking about a brick and mortar shop where dogs mingle or are in kennels close to one another. Mobile groomers are currently the safest facilities for dealing with this virus. As always, Emily and Sarah sanitize surfaces and tools after each groom.

We request that if your dog is experiencing symptoms that owners please reschedule. If we observe symptoms at the time of pick up, the appointment will be rescheduled and the dog not permitted on the vans. Together, we can keep dogs safe and hopefully end the spread of this dog virus!

These same veterinarians say that while they are seeing dogs come in with the disease, most pet owners have taken warnings about this illness to heart.

We are very aware of the canine respiratory illness currently causing much concern. We ask that our valued clients also be aware of this very concerning illness and if your dog has any respiratory symptoms please reschedule your appointment with us and see your vet as soon as possible. We have several elderly clients and this illness can negatively affect them. We are taking every precaution possible through sanitizing our equipment between appointments, but we also ask that we all be proactive in stopping the spread. If we observe nasal discharge or other respiratory symptoms, your dog will not be permitted on the van for grooming, we will need to reschedule after your dog has been evaluated by a veterinarian and is clear of virus.

Thank you for understanding and helping us protect the dogs we love so much.

Veterinary laboratories in several states are investigating an unusual respiratory illness in dogs. Oregon, Colorado and New Hampshire are among the states that have seen cases of the illness.

We are working with Rocky Mountain Groom Expo to find dogs for their Grooming Competition “Dirty Pup Pot Luck” on Sunday July 9!
WHAT: Dogs between 2 and 10 years old, 45 pounds and under, Long coats that need grooming; think Shihtzu, Maltese, Maltipoo, Mini Poodles, and Doodles with coats grown out at least 2 inches. Dogs do not need to be purebreds but they must be able to stand still on the grooming table and tolerate other dogs.
WHEN: Dogs must be available Saturday July 8 between 5 and 6pm for bathing and then return Sunday at 1:00pm for the competition. Owners must be open to groomer’s whim regarding style. This is a grooming competition and the groomer will need freedom to style the dog during the competition. Temporary color and sculpting with hair spray will be allowed.
WHERE: Under the Sun Dog Park and Event Center 6540 Vincent Drive, Colorado Springs.
OTHER: There is no charge (or compensation) for participants. Photos will be posted on Social Media. The competition is a 4 hour commitment on Sunday, starting at 1:00. Dogs will be evaluated before the competition to make sure they fit criteria for competition.

We would like you to meet Ollie! He belongs to Taryn Harrell of Le Harrell’s Standard Poodles in Falcon (.harrells.poodles). Taryn was kind enough to loan Ollie to Sarah so she can compete in a Grooming Competition in Idaho Falls, Idaho! This will be Sarah’s first competition and she is so excited to have a quality poodle to participate with.

What a morning!! We keep our vehicles in covered storage facility to keep them safe and powered up. When we arrived this morning to start our day, we found the driveway blocked by the damaged gate! Thankfully our storage unit was not also damaged (as others were) and our vehicles are safe. But, we cannot get out until the gates are safely removed. Thank you to those who had appointments this morning for your understanding! We HOPE to have access this afternoon so we can keep those appointments on time.

UPDATE!!!! The gate has been removed and our afternoon appointments will not have to be rescheduled!!! Woohoo!!

We had to say goodbye to our beloved Lil Ann this week. She was 11 1/2 years old and she was a beloved member of the family from the moment she took her first breath to the moment she took her last. Yes, that’s her on the side of one of our vans 😌

So many of you have lost your fur babies this month, we are truly sorry for you loss and completely understand your pain and sadness. Sending you all hugs and love too.
