After several years of staying Covid negative, both Rich and I tested positive for Covid. Dang. The Covid numbers have been spiking and this time it got us. Luckily, I can take Paxlovid but Rich can't. Isolating and feeling crappy is not a lot of fun but we are following the CDC and current medical protocol. I am, however, very lucky to have Nurse Stevie watching over me (intensely) and guarding me from more evil cooties. 😊

The BLAST ASCA trial is coming up soon so get your entries in!! Trial dates are May 18-19, 2024 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton, WA. We will do day of trial entries, too. ASCA is a LOT of fun and the venue is for all breeds and mix breeds. ALL dogs!! You don't have to have a number with ASCA unless you want to track titles. You can start trialing at any level! Classes offered are jumpers (no weaves), the "Regular" course with jumps, tunnels, weave poles, the A-Frame, Dogwalk and Teeter, no table. They also use a displaceable tire at the BLAST trial. The third class is Gamblers class where your dog performs obstacles in a 30 second "opening" then does a "distance challenge". Fun!! Training in the ring is allowed. Food is NOT allowed in the ring, on your body but you can use a toy in the ring if you are training. Let me know if you have any questions! Come and join us for a wonderful time!! Well, Iz a second time puppy skool gradatoot. TWO times having to wear a toopid hat. What the what? My teacher says I should move on to the next class. My Mom, who iz mean, btw, said I should repeat a grade. Do it again?? What duz she know…. Only i know the truf….😈

The RAT/ASC of WA agility trial was SO much fun this past weekend!! It was wonderful to see friends, enjoy the awesome weather and play with my dogs!! I can’t thank the trial committee enough! (Karen Ricketts, Linda Larson, Tim Evans, Leann Strunk, Connie Wyma, Chris Edmark, Sandra Katzen, Leslie Cole) We could NOT have done this without you and without all of the exhibitors who stepped up to help OR without our super judge Susan Byrne!! Thanks for helping to make it an incredible trial!!! Stevie had a great time, too, and for those of you she mugged, yes, I am attempting to train this wild animal. 😊

Judge Judy Greco and I took turns closing our eyes for these pictures. 😊 The picture with Judy is at the Top Dog CPE trial. Top Dog did a fantastic job putting on their trial, once again!! This photo (thanks Leanne and Judy!!!) is of Natty, before being groomed, after we earned her C-ATCH 2. It could have been the rain, snow, hail, sleet combo at the trial but Natty was distracted and not real happy as seen in the photo. Even though I look goofy, she was much happier after she got her groom on and got to pose at home. She loves scent work but humors me with agility runs now and then!! Thanks Top Dog and Judge Judy!!

We've been busy so I haven't posted a ton, not that I ever do!! Last weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to judge the New Hope ASC pre-trial at ASCA Nationals. I had a great time--wonderful people and dogs!! Such a fantastic group! I was a bit tired to start off the weekend as the weekend before that, I had made a quick trip to Green Bay, Wisconsin, via Detroit. No, I wasn't stalking the Packers BUT I did pick up a very special gift, our newest family member. This is Echolight Just in the Nick of Time, "Stevie"! She is an incredible little package of energy and fun! Having a puppy is a full time and exhausting job but she is worth every second. Thanks to Kirsten Tardiff for this remarkable, entertaining and really funny little pup!

These two!! Natty, on the left, loves scentwork. Who knew?? She is in the AKC Excellent classes in Buried and Exteriors and in Masters Interior and Containers!! Our next NACSW trial will either be a Level 2 Element trial or a NW2 trial. It's such fun to watch her do something she thinks is the best thing ever! We are still doing some agility, too! Ginger, on the right, loves agility and scentwork! Ginger passed her NACSW ORT (all three odors that they test) yesterday!! She loves the sniffing game, too!!

Since my van has been in the shop for a while, we haven't been able to play agility or scentwork much, BUT we were able to attend a trial a week ago for a few brief runs. Ginger loves distance work so was able to pull off a NADAC Chances run. Just one bobble but we hung in there and she had a BLAST!!

My very talented and thoughtful friend Leslie Cole made this shadow box for me. She made Tsunami's pawprint and painted the beautiful flowers around it. Then she added the picture of Tsu and me after ASCA Nationals in Greeley, Colorado. Leslie is AMAZING!! It was such a kind gift even if it made me cry!!

And then there were three. It's been a tough seven weeks, only 7 weeks and we've gone from five dogs to three. It's very quiet here. Our focused caregiving is over for now so the void is left behind. We lost our little terrier mix, Bea, on May 19th to congestive heart failure. She was a little go-getter and chasing bunnies and eating bunny p**p up until she wasn't. Ugh. Once we got the CHF diagnosis, we knew her time was limited but it's still the pits. I miss that little monkey. And then yesterday we said goodbye to Tsunami. We went from thinking she had had a stroke, had old dog vestibular disease or had a brain tumor. An MRI showed she had a brain tumor and my heart broke. She was the best buddy ever--loud and feisty and stubborn and in love with her Mom, me. I miss her terribly. Bea and Tsu are both are running whole again and free.

Not agility BUT I'm very proud of Miss Natty!! She earned her NACSW NW1 title at the trial in Stevenson, WA yesterday!! She loves the game!!
