Wow, what a weekend to say the least.

My NW1/NW2 K9 Nose Work trial in O’Fallon, MO is in the books! This is my first experience hosting an NACSW trial and what an experience it was! I have some amazing people to thank as this trial could not have happened with our wonderful nose work community!

All the planning started months ago and my Trial Coordinator Dorothy Turley couldn’t have been any better as she helped me every step of the way. Thank you to our fabulous CO Erin Seely, judges Bob Wierenga and Josh Hazel. I learned so much watching such skilled individuals.

None of this would have been possible without all the wonderful folks who volunteered and were so giving of their time. I am very grateful to so many. Thank you to Score Room Lead Virginia H. Huxley & her apprentice Misty Bowen.

To my Volunteer Coordinator’s Josh Elston & Keeley Jones… you both worked tirelessly and kept everything flowing smoothly. You both were so much a part of the success from this weekend and without you none of this was possible! I am grateful for your friendship and look forward to the future.

Many, many thanks to this wonderful group of people who helped make the trial a success (and I apologize if I’ve left anyone out, it’s not intentional): Brenda Steely , Elizabeth Huchin , John W Rutten, Denise Garrett, Steven Boyce, Kaylee Dunn, Sandy Ellison, Rachael Roberson, Jenna & Annette Lechwar, Jeannine & Lauren Peca, Amy Olvitt & Caitlyn Olvitt, Kristin Heiden, Jennifer Calcaterra, Natalie McManus, Rose Clancy - I hope I told you enough all weekend how grateful I am to you. This trial could not have happened without you. It truly takes a community to pull this off and you guys are the best!
* I do want to make a special note here that says for the new to NW volunteers you made me proud and I hope you enjoyed the weekend. You did wonderful and I hope you enjoyed the experience!

So many emotions, so much learned! Many asked what this experience was like and at times it was daunting. At the end of the day the biggest thing I am taking away is that when you set out on a new adventure your “tribe” or the people you surround yourself with is important. I’ve learned a lot about the people in my life and honestly, not once, did any of these amazing people waiver in thier commitment or support to our nose work community or to my silly goals. I will forever be thankful.

I guess the only thing left to say is … I guess it’s time to start planning the next event…… 🤪
