Laura connected with my OTTB Randy in May ’23. During the session, he told us he knows he is fancy and wants to win a lot of ribbons, but he needs to go slow. He also needed training in small easy to understand pieces. Over the summer, we took it slow with our homework- small jumps, uncomplicated exercises. Then, toward the fall took him out to shows starting with pole classes, 2’ baby green hunter divisions, and a dressage show (we’re h/j people) to get him more experience without the pressure of jumping. Into the winter, we continued to do a little more, but still took it slow. We’re happy to say that this spring, Randy moved up to bigger jumps and bigger shows. We’ve received many complements from judges on how fancy he is…and now he’s winning lots of ribbons. It was also helpful to have the recording to share with his rider. - Jodie Kavanah
I enjoyed meeting the people, ponies and pups at Tally Ho Equestrian Center today. Fourteen students awakened their ability to connect intuitively with animals and experienced heart to heart connections with their animal friends.
After the workshop, we walked through the barn and chatted with a few horses and ponies. What a fun day!

Sometimes they are found "abandoned" or wandering, in the middle of a road or in danger in the heart of the night; other times they are found at the front door of the house, as sent by fate; other times they arrive from loved ones, neighbors or strangers.
Animals were already in our karma at least. In this life, as in the others. According to Brian Weiss, the same animal often incarnates itself several times during our lifetime, simply changing shape and coat, and being recognized by small gestures, details and subtle habits. This is clearly seen with cats.
When a "new" animal enters our house and knows exactly where to go, it's a sign that it simply says back. Many people, at the moment of death, receive the soothing vision not of a deceased relative, but rather of an animal. This means a lot. Because for our soul there is no difference between one species and another.
Animals are in our evolutionary path just like we are in theirs, for this reason we must respect them as sacred creatures and take the greatest care of them. They are part of us, in a different form of the universe."

Reiki Level I & Reiki for Animals Class❤️
Congratulations to these ladies for completing Reiki Level I / Reiki for Animals training and beginning their Reiki journey at Cotton Branch yesterday! It was a beautiful, inspiring day filled with sweet animals and amazing energy.
Exploring the state of ease...

During a bodywork session if I can support the horse to connect to their natural state of inner ease then there is a greater openness to the horse freely exploring their physical state of ease with me.

However, for that to even be able to take place I need to be in a state of inner/out ease myself.
As humans it is very easy for us to "think" we are relaxed but our bodies are telling everyone else (including our horse) a totally different story.

Try this experiment:
-Set up the camera on your phone to film you and your entire horse (nose to tail) while grooming or tacking-up your horse. Just go about your usual routine. Change nothing. Keep the pace, the steps and everything the same as you usually do. Then watch the footage.
First, only watch your horse and their expressions, movements, etc. Do they look calm and relaxed? Connected to you or zoned out or wanting to be somewhere else? When are the moments they move out of a state of ease?
Watch it a second time and only pay attention to your movements. What is the pace like? What does the pressure look like? What do you look like while doing the activity?
Finally, watch it a third time while being aware of both you and the horse. What is the horse responding to and how are you responding to the horse? If you could magically switch places with your horse, how do you think it would feel to be groomed or tacked-up in the manner you just did to your horse? Do you get a sense of inner and outer ease for both you and your horse during this experiment?

Become aware in your body that you are holding tension, or moving abruptly or talking forcefully or breathing too fast or maybe holding your breath or...a zillion other ways we each individually brace, resist, push-away and try to control.

Become aware of your body when you are in a state of inner ease. What does that feel like? While in that state can you soften your physical body a little more and still maintain that state of ease? Can you slow your breathing down just a little more and still maintain that state of ease?

Animals are drawn to the peaceful, calming energy of Reiki if it is shared in a way that respects their preferences and honors their choices and unique sensitivities. Reiki is a gentle, noninvasive way to support animals in their healing process and complements any health and wellness program.
When we allow animals to have agency in the Reiki session, the benefits are numerous. Some of these include:
- Helps animals relax
- Allows animals to release stress so that their bodies can heal
- Creates trust and enhances the animal-human relationship
- It can be shared from a distance, so it is perfect for abused or scared animals
- A diagnosis is not needed; Reiki heals on all levels
- It cannot be overdone and cannot do harm
- Brings healing and balance to the animal or their situation
Sharing Reiki effectively with animals requires a different approach than is taught in most Reiki classes. Hands are used only if the animal initiates contact. If animals are to receive the full benefits of Reiki, we must give them a choice in how the session unfolds and honor those choices.

Hi,
I am Laura and I am passionate about animals, Nature and enhancing the human-animal relationship. I am excited to help animals and humans find healing, peace, harmony and balance through Animal Reiki and animal communication.
As a child, I was always bringing home injured, sick or stray animals; something I still do. Being with animals and helping them is my happy place. I share a deep connection and kinship with animals, especially horses, and have always been an “animal magnet”, attracting all sorts of domestic and wild animals, many needing help.
After a successful 25-year career as a professional development trainer and management consultant, I left the business world to spend more time with animals and partnered with a friend to start a pet and farm sitting business. Soon after, Reiki found me through a very special red mare and changed my life forever!
Not long after completing my Reiki Master training, I learned about Kathleen Prasad and the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA). I completed Reiki/Animal Reiki Teacher training with Kathleen and now practice and teach her Let Animals Lead® method of Animal Reiki. I have found an amazing way to help animals and bring balance and harmony to my life. I am passionate about making a difference in animal and human lives by sharing Reiki with them.
I love combining my background in training, my deep connection with animals, and my passion for Reiki to create life changing learning experiences for my students. I believe in ongoing mentoring for my students as well as nurturing my own spiritual growth. Reiki is a journey, not a one time and done training.
I have also trained and mentored with Anita Curtis and Thea Strom to enhance my animal communication abilities. I love helping humans and their animals better understand each other through animal communication consultations.
Four horses, a donkey, a llama, two sheep, three dogs, thirteen cats and some chickens, most of whom are rescues, and various wild animals let me live on their farm in South Carolina…as long as I share Reiki with them daily!
I am living my dream life, helping animals with my thriving Animal Reiki , animal communication and pet sitting business. I currently enjoy serving on the SARA Ethics Committee and volunteering teaching Animal Reiki at Cotton Branch Farm Animal Sanctuary.
