American Hiking Dog Follow the adventures of me and my American hiking dog, Lucy. We hike almost every weekend and will My passions are hiking, wine, and most importantly, my dog.

By day, I am digital marketing manager for diet and nutrition company located outside of Charlotte, NC. You will learn pretty quickly that Lucy is a big part of my life and will be featured frequently on American Hiking Dog. My blog will focus on my passions and whatever else I feel like writing about. I have spent most of my life in North Carolina and love calling it home. Instead of heading to t

he beach in my free time, I prefer heading to the western part of the state and hitting many of the amazing trails there. I adopted Lucy from a lovely family in May of 2011, and can read the story of how I met Lucy here: When Kevin Met Lucy

She is half Anatolian shepherd, one quarter German shepherd, and one quarter boxer (that's what the DNA test said anyway). One day while hiking a young couple passed by and asked what kind of dog she is. One of my friends quickly said, "American hiking dog." The couple had a confused look on their face, and I am pretty sure they tried to look up American hiking dog when they got home. Since then, that is the answer whenever someone asks me what breed she is. Lucy's favorite things to do are play frisbee and hike. She is with me on most of my hikes and gets excited as soon as I get a backpack out. I hope you enjoy reading about our adventures together and hope you will share your stories with us.
