Love this post ! I think about this a lot - letting dogs be dogs and do dog stuff - even stopping and let them sniff a blade of grass for the eleventy billionth time !! It’s what they do - it’s how they learn about the environment they are in and who has passed through it !!
Plus it stimulates so tires out their brain !
It’s a win win !
Let dogs be dogs !!!

💕🐶 DOGS! 🐶💕

We are a nation of dog lovers.

It’s why so many of us choose to share our lives with dogs 💕

But, we often don’t always understand them, not really. Our knowledge of dogs comes from seeing older generations of our family with dogs, with watching tv shows about dogs, watching movies and Disney cartoons - as a result we have a really strange mis mash belief about dogs.

I grew up watching Casualty & still enjoy watching A&E, I’ve seen doctors over the years when I feel poorly, I’ve been told about many old family remedies for this and that ailment… does that mean that I understand illness and the human body? 🙈

As a dog trainer it is so important to me that my customers learn to understand their dogs. Really understand them.

To do so often means challenging our life long beliefs. To change how we view some of our dogs behaviours. To reevaluate how we communicate and interact with our dogs.

But when we allow ourselves to let go of old beliefs and misguided knowledge we see our dog’s in a new way. And our relationships with them change and become something far beyond what we may have experienced before.

In a class recently I asked the participants what they had learnt over the previous week. One of the answers made my heart sing 🎶🎵🎶

It summed up in a nutshell why I do this job. Why I love this job. And why I’ll continue to teach the way I do.

“I realised that taking for her a walk isn’t about me and her having to do what I want, or that I should have some authority over her. I started to let her be a dog and thought about the walk from her point of view and what she needed to get of it.”

When we let our dogs be dogs… (and why wouldn’t we when we claim to love dogs?) their lives are so much more fulfilled, rich and meaningful.

And as a result our lives with them are so much more fulfilled, rich and meaningful. 🐶💕

Hero police dog has won Bravery Award at Crufts after risking his own life to save his handler from a knife attack.

Back in May 2021, PD Kaiser and his handler, PC Mark Woolcott, joined officers in the search for an intruder. Locating the man, Kaiser tried to subdue him but was stabbed six times.

Despite his injuries, Kaiser was able to keep control of the man for long enough to allow officers to take hold of him.

Well done Kaiser, the ulti-mutt partner!

Today is National Walk Your Dog Day but instead of focusing on the benefits of walking your dog, I'd like to focus, perhaps controversially, on why I believe in rest days free from walks. Consider adding a rest day into your dog's week and enjoy a calmer dog.

In England all Plan B restrictions including wearing face masks are ending.

Many people are looking to return to commuting to work in the office and will require care for their dog.

Here is a link to our guide for finding a dog walker:

It is going to be a positive yet scary transition for some as we slowly try to return to a normal life again. We all need to support one another more now than ever.

As an organisation we believe life is so much better if we are kind to each other and follow a professional and personal code of ethics.

Communicating well, thinking of others, being a true professional and treating others as you would like to be treated by showing respect will all help you be the best you can.

New commission finished!!

This little scamp belongs to a wonderful man I like to call Stephen. Mainly because his name is Stephen.

I don’t know what the dog is called, but I’ve named him Jarvis Shocker.

Jarvis likes being all moody down the shopping centre, running on the beach till his privates clack together and upcycling cold pizza slices.

To say that this one is drawn in my ultra-realistic style is something of an understatement so I feel compelled to have to remind you that my drawing is the image on the right.

Review from the customer:

‘I’ll be telling everyone about this and I’ll make sure you never work in this town again.’

(Stephen knows how much I want to take this project full time, so those words of encouragement really mean a lot to me)
