🐾 Introducing Our Dog of the Month for September: Mama! 🐾
We're excited to launch our new "Dog of the Month" feature, where we highlight one of our amazing adoptable dogs who’s ready to find their forever home.
For September, we're shining the spotlight on Mama—
This 9-year-old ChiWeenie (Chihuahua-Dachshund mix) has a heart as big as her spirit. Mama first came to our rescue in 2015 as a young dog with a single puppy. After being adopted in 2016, she was recently returned to us, and now she’s ready for a fresh start with a new family who will cherish her forever.
Here’s what makes Mama so special:
• Health: Mama has a gimpy left front leg due to an untreated fracture before she first came to us. Though her elbow is fused and she can’t bend it, this doesn’t slow her down—she gets around just fine!
• Behavior: Mama has a sweet disposition and is indifferent to other dogs, though she would prefer to be the only dog in the home to have her person all to herself. Initially, she showed some resource guarding, but she has since been corrected and no longer exhibits this behavior in her current foster home.
• Training: She’s crate trained but prefers to be close to her person. Mama doesn’t like being picked up without notice, likely due to her past injury. However, with a gentle heads-up, she’s happy to be lifted.
