Shorty Creek Sled Dogs Shorty Creek was picked as the name because my last Newfoundland passed away in the Yukon on our way to live in AK. I got her ashes back.

The Trek was made to this beautiful place and her ashes were left. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

We lost the matriarch of our kennel yesterday. I can't thank Jae enough for entrusting us with her! We did 1 final "run" with the original gang. She trotted for a bit. She got ice cream and a cheeseburger. Got to wander the backyard as long as she wanted, when the vets arrived, she laid down right in front of them. The sun came out for her, and the entire team was there to help her cross over. She has left a huge hole here and the team howled for her last night. That made my heart happy. Love you Kindling. Be nice to Mick. 💙🧡

Sometimes the book of faces can be a good place. I'm wallowing in self pity because our sled season is over with the cancellation of the CopperDog. I was reminded from another mushers post though that the dogs don't care if we race. They just want to share the trail with us. It's about the journey and bonding we get with our team mates. We have BIG plans for next year. Time to get after them. 💙🧡
