The Do’s and Don’ts when running/walking your dog on the DogPACER Treadmill
DO:
⭐️Provide positive reinforcement
⭐️LIGHTLY grasp their collar to provide a guiding hand and encourage them to walk
⭐️ Sit in front of the treadmill when they are first learning
⭐️Give them all the lovins (treats, toys, cuddles, etc)
⭐️Attach the emergency key to their collar (this is especially important when they are just starting out)
⭐️Start your pup off slow when they first start using the treadmill
⭐️Only have them on the Treadmill for 1-5 minutes when they are first starting out
⭐️Slowly bring up their speed and time limit as they grow more comfortable
DON’T:
❌ Leash your dog to the bar on the treadmill
❌Run them for too long when they are just getting used to it
❌Start them off too fast when they are just getting used to it
❌Call them bad for not getting it immediately
❌Leave the room with your dog actively on the treadmill
❌Yell at the dog
❌Force the dog to do more than they are capable of
❌Overwork the dog both mentally and physically
It can take time for some dogs to get used to the dogPACER completely. It can be confusing for them to completely grasp what they’re supposed to do immediately. It’s important to encourage them and make the environment around them comfortable. Make sure you’re being persistent with the use of the treadmill but do not overwork your dog.
