Ward's Obedience and Training has had a great 3/4s of a year and I want to make the last quarter even better. I have met great clients and great dogs and have graduated some of my favorites and now I want to meet new great to be dogs and parents. For the 4th quarter I am offering a 50% discount on the first meeting. In the first meeting I will evaluate your dog for training and introduce him to basic obedience. In addition I will start 'Loose Leash Walking'. This is critical for the 4th quarter because of the coming ice and snow. You definitely do not want him/her pulling while you are on ice and snow. Please pass this along to friends and neighbors so that they can enjoy long walks in safety all winter long.

Ok all, school has started and all are back to work. Don't forget about 'rover'. He/she could be despondent over the loss of playmates, family, and the general chaos of summer. Spend some quality time with him/her, do some training, hire a trainer if he/she is displaying bad behaviors such as barking, digging, aggression. He/she is just lonely.

It is necessary to socialize your dog with other dogs and other people. It is necessary to do it in the right environment. I have had great success in Home Depot. Home Depot is very pet friendly and many of the employee carry dog treats. If it is your first time doing this I highly recommend you get help from a professional dog trainers! I know it is a bit late but I have found that the Thunder Shirt is effective in calming your dog during the holiday fireworks.

Kids make great dog handlers and trainers. It improves the child's self esteem and builds a great bond between them and the dog.

My summer message: With the heat and humidity of summer, watch your dogs carefully during play or exercise. A great indicator is their tail--If it is sagging or drooping it is time for water and rest for your dog. Runners: Watch your dog carefully as they do not dissipate heat as efficiently as you do.

Hi friends, I now have openings for the week of the 27th of June. One free training session with any rescued dog from any pound, adoption center, or adoption service.

Good news! I now have full time availability. I am available seven days a week for morning, afternoon or evenings. The only exception will be Sunday mornings for church.

For those of you with dogs with allergies, I have discovered hydrolyzed dog foods with all the meat proteans already broken down to the amino acids which are easily digested and have no chance of triggering the allergy. Contact me for more info as to where to find them.

The difference between competence and compliance: Competence is when your dog knows the command and behavior. Compliance is when your dog obeys the command and performs the behavior. I can and do teach both competence and compliance.

‘‘Tis the season to be careful for your dogs. Holiday plants and flowers can poison your best friend. Keep Christmas plants well out of reach or better yet keep them out of the house.

Dogs,like people, learn at different rates and have different learning styles. Many dogs thrive and learn quickly by being rewarded with treats. Others care less about treats but learn quickly with praise and/or affection. A great trainer uses all available tools.
