A sweet series of photos and a video of Mavis and Steve yesterday. These two members of the flock were both hatched by Martha in separate broods.
Mavis is a lemon millefleurs sabelpoot, although she has darker base plumage

The light was so good yesterday, I was finally able to take plenty of photos of the flock.
Hayley, the Salmon Faverolles was looking particularly glorious with the sun on her feathers. To show or not to show in the next local show… that is the question! 🙃

If you have been following my post, I made mentioned 2 weeks again posting red lace Wyandotte grow out hens and roosters, I had to put them up at the right age, for beginners who need grow outs to start up the season, they are yet on lay cycle and are 14 weeks old.
10 hens and 3 Roos. Brooding was excellent and had received oral vaccine and are good to go.

Don’t miss out on them.

I decided to keep a few black and splash out of my 2023 hatch just for a hit of color when I look out in the chicken yard lol this is my mixed flock of mostly youngsters with a few old biddies scattered throughout. Hatched 100 last spring. This year I’m gonna let the incubators rest and just let the broody hens hatch what they will.

Hatching season is coming quick!
Today I’m gonna load my incubator with the next round of babies. 🐣 Hatching now means hens laying in Spring/Summer. My breeding plans will include Silverudd/Legbar as well as using a Silverudd rooster over a few different hens to see what I can create. I also plan to continue to perfect my version of a “rose egger” along with what I already have going on. What are your egg basket goals??
