Pebble, Mr. Manx Syndrome My name is Pebble, and I was born in May 2016. I was born with a cluster of congenital issues k My name is Pebble, and I was born on May 23, 2016.

I was born with a cluster of congenital issues known as Manx Syndrome. I am a Manx Cat, which means I have no tail. I got really lucky that my human mommy was fostering my biological mommy when she was pregnant. My human mommy had no idea she was going to get such special kittens. To everyone’s surprise my mommy Zoli had three Manx kittens along with two with tails. Sadly, one of my Manx brothers

died in his sleep from an enlarged heart when we were only a few days old. My human mommy figured out by the time I was about a week old that I would be a little special. I p*ed on her every time she picked me up. I didn’t mean to! I just couldn’t help it. When I started learning to walk I looked more like a swimming frog than a walking kitty. Luckily, all of my mommies (I have three!) fell in love with me and vowed to make sure I was as strong and healthy as possible. In September 2016 my human mommy noticed I was having a lot of diarrhea. It didn’t get better with meds so into the vet I went. It turned out I actually had a blocked colon. I spent two days at the vet getting cleaned out. I hated it. 6 months later, even with regular medications, I was badly impacted again and spent another two days at the vet. Two weeks later my humans took me to have a consultation with a soft tissue surgeon. He did an exam and took some x-rays and I was already blocked up again! The surgeon did my subtotal colectomy that day. He said I had mega colon and it would only get worse as I got older, since I was only 10 months old at the time. I had surgery on March 14, 2017. I am still recovering from surgery, but doing well. I’m back to playing and bossing everyone around. I am still leaking p*e and now I leak poo a lot since I don’t have my large intestine to re-absorb water from my p**p. My mommy got me these really cute diapers from Fancy Pants 4 Pets. I know I look handsome in them but I just hate the whole deal of putting them on. Surgery could not fix my bunny hop. My coccyx (bone at the base of my spine) and my femurs (thigh bones) are deformed so those are just issues I have, but I’ve always had them so it’s no big deal to me. If I live long enough I may need a wheelchair someday, but my human parents will do whatever it takes to keep me happy as long as I am happy. We decided to start this page since we’ve learned that a lot of people have Manx kitties and their vets don’t seem to know what’s wrong with them. We hope to raise some awareness and help others with our experiences. Please contact us with any questions you have. We also hope to be entertaining since I am a very rambunctious kitty. I just wanted to give an update on our friend Molly and her cat Oscar who ate a GIANT piece of string a month ago.

It took a while, but Oscar got to go home. He started eating again slowly, and finally p**ped about a week post op. Now that he’s gained his strength back he’s back to himself. This picture is from shortly after he went home.

Thank you so much for your donations for his hospitalization.

Please be careful if your. She have access to anything with loose strings. Molly didn’t realize her rug even had a loose string until the vet found it in Oscar. If you’re concerned about your kitty, get them to the nearest ER. If Molly didn’t act as fast as she did there is no way Oscar would have survived this.
