Squid. 💜

Our casting brief made it a point of focus to foster a mixbreed dog to play Runt, and our brilliant, dedicated, passionate Animal Department searched far and wide before finding Squid in a shelter. Instantly, we knew we had found our star.

Squid responded incredibly well to training, and she now has a loving home for life.

I hope the world will fall in love with Squid as much as we have. She’s the perfect ambassador for our film, and also the benefits of rescuing vulnerable dogs.

Such a great book 📕 now the official trailer is out for RUNT!

👀🐕 The official trailer and first look image for RUNT has just dropped, ahead of the film's cinema release on 19 September!

Based on Craig Silvey's best-selling novel, the film revolves around eleven-year-old Annie Shearer and her best friend, Runt, an adopted stray dog.

Filmed in Perth and WA's Wheatbelt region, RUNT features an all-star Australian cast including Jai Courtney, Celeste Barber, Deborah Mailman, Matt Day and Jack Thompson, with newcomers Lily LaTorre and rescue dog Squid leading the picture.
