**Trigger warning: language and transphobic hate speech**

Anyone who knows us personally knows that we live an unabashedly q***r existence, and we support our community whenever we can. And this pride month, like every year, we posted our support and intention of donating a portion of our sales to LGBTQ+ organizations (pic #1). And just like every year, the vast majority of our feedback has been overwhelmingly positive/supportive, but of course we have received—and responded to—hate speech in our inbox (pic #2).

I have obscured the email of this person because we are not looking to dox the ignorant bigots of the world. Karma will get them. The point of showing this exchange is this: PRIDE IS NECESSARY.

We have made significant strides since Stonewall, to be sure…but there is still so far to come in our society. Until everyone is allowed to live freely—without fear of hatred, discrimination, or physical violence—we will be here, living loudly, and repeating these words to all those who speak ill of our community:

All good things must come to an end, and yes, TODAY is the day for Prairie Dog pre-order pricing!

At midnight tonight (CDT), we will no longer accept pre-order deposits for 2024 pups. Due to arrive in just a couple days, these pups will be checked and cuddled and readied for their forever homes. Once current pre-orders are notified and routes/pickups organized, then we will begin posting individual pups for general availability.

You’d be surprised just how often we receive these kinds of messages to our website. Undoubtedly someone with lots of extra time and not enough hobbies. We just ignore them and go on with our day…but I thought I’d take a moment to just let all the would-be jokesters know that…

A) you aren’t unique, nor are you the first person to ask.
B) it wasn’t even funny/shocking/remarkable (or whatever reaction you were anticipating) the first time.
C) you can do better, both in your humor and your grammar.

Keep practicing, and someday you just might be able to graduate to comment trolling on innocent TikTok accounts or something! 🙄.

We have had a number of concerned reach out, so we wanted to take a quick second and say we were luckily nowhere near the tragic events of this afternoon.

We chose to stay home to watch on TV, and away from the inevitable craziness that comes with having 1Mil+ people gathered in one place…but we had no idea just how crazy it would be. Our hearts are heavy with the thought of how a day of jubilation and celebration can become a day of mourning in the blink of an eye.

We encourage all to raise your voices and speak out to . Whenever there’s an opportunity as well. These unspeakable, and ofttimes completely preventable, tragedies will continue as long as we stand behind our “thoughts and prayers” and continue to DO nothing.

We ❤️ KC, and believe change is possible. Congrats to the Chiefs and well wishes to the victims and families of this shooting.

Hedgehogs are super laid back but also have a cute, cuddly, and a little energetic side to them. Hello !!!!! We hope you all are having an amazing Holiday season! To end the year with a bang, we have some amazing new babies on our website! These are Kangaroo Rats (also called K-rats). They are extremely rare, and we are very excited to be finding lucky new homes for these little ones!

Here are some fun facts to know about these spectacular animals!
1. Kangaroo rats do not drink water
2. Kangaroo rats have pouches on the outside of their cheeks to carry food back to their borrow.
3. Kangaroo rats can jump as high as 9 feet
4. Kangaroo rats have excellent hearing
5. Kangaroo rats need sand in their enclosures

Hello KyTy family!!!! We are introducing one of the cutest, rarest, and sweetest chinchillas known to live. These chinchillas are called Lockin chinchillas and they are mainly known for their curly coat! The first Lockin that entered the world was in 2004 and this was actually in Germany! Fast forward to 2007, there were two guys who had gotten their hands on Lockins imported from Germany and kept some in Ohio and sent a Texas zoo the rest! They are very rare in the US and just like other chinchillas…they are super soft crepuscular rodents and we would not miss out on this amazing opportunity if we were you 🥰

Unfortunately she did sell fairly fast so she already has a wonderful home she is looking forward to! As Pride season begins, we want to take a moment to spotlight and honor our brothers and sisters in the LGBTQIA+ community. The attacks, both physically and legislatively that we have been seeing across the US is tragic and completely unacceptable! We must stand united in the fight for true equity and inclusion in our society, and KyTy is proud to support organizations like the Transgender Law Center and the Kansas City Center for Inclusion and the work they do for those in the community.

As we head toward spring, many families are looking for a new pet that their kids can bond with and enjoy for the summer break (and the years to come)!

Long eared hedgehogs are not only absolutely adorable (see video 😍), but they are more playful and energetic, and are full of personality. While we love ALL our Hedgie family, there’s something about those huge ears and that almost cartoonish face, that give them such a more unique feel than the standard hedgies do.
