Valley West Veterinary Hospital has been a locally owned and family run business for over 30 years. We are a multiple doctor practice with two locations which allows us to meet the needs of both small and large pets. Both locations are full service hospitals that offer a full range of medical and surgical procedures for small animals.

Did you know?

- Heartworm disease is transmitted by mosquitoes and can affect dogs and cats.
- It can lead to severe lung disease, heart failure, and organ damage if left untreated.
- Prevention is key! Monthly medications can protect your pets!
- If your pet does test positive, treatment requires hospitalization, monitoring, and several months of activity restriction.

Provide PLENTY of shade and cool water⛱️💧
NEVER leave your pet in the car, even with the windows cracked 🚫🚗
LIMIT exercise during the day, and remember, if the pavement is too hot for your hand ✋, it's too hot for their paws 🐾🦮
WATCH for signs of heat stroke such as excessive panting, vomiting, drooling, collapse, discolored gums 🥵

Keep your pet safe this 4th of July! 🎆 🐶

As we get ready to celebrate the 4th of July, lets not forget about our furry friends. Fireworks and loud noises can cause fear in many of our pets. If your pets have a history of noise phobia to fireworks, now is the time to call to discuss medications to ease their fears.

Signs of noise phobia:

1. Pacing
2. Panting
3. Salivation/Drooling
4. Trembling
5. Hiding
6. Whining/Barking
7. Chewing/Destroying inanimate objects
8. House soiling

Remember, your pet can't control any of these behaviors. If you have questions, or concerns, about your pet and noise phobia, call us at 304-343-6783.
