Laura comes from generations of horse men and women on both sides of her family. Maryland native who grew up showing and competing in 4H at the state and local level for English, Western, and Horse Judging. She was never given a "trained" horse, even from the start she had a pony who was the same age as her- and just as wild as herself. Laura graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Certificate of Education in Equine Business Management. She worked for nearly 9 years at a Farm and Garden store where she was their Livestock and Equine Specialist as well as the Marketing Coordinator & Manager. There she attended many educational classes for Equine & Livestock nutrition and traveled all over attending vendor shows buying for the company. She has now moved on to a job that allows her more time to focus on her riding and training -career.

FYI!!! It's "safety awareness week" and most places have 20+% off helmets and vests!

Remember that helmets should be replaced after any hard fall, and at least every 5 years.

Need something with that extra layer of protection? Get one with the MIP system!

See how helmets scored in this VA Tech study, remember just because they are expensive doesn't mean they are safer:

I have this adorable 13.3h AQHA mare I would love to find her own person, preferably a kid or older person that would give her the individual attention she so seeks.

She is the sweetest little thing and just adores being loved on. She is the lowest horse in the herd, so she is getting picked on in my larger herd with several alpha mares. Great for vet, farrier, hauling, and easy to catch.

She may be small in height but with her longer back and large flowing movement she does not feel little while riding (I'm 5'4" and not petite). She can sit for YEARS and quietly tack up and go out for a ride or show. She has never, ever, offered anything nasty in the 7 years of owning her. She can be snorty, but she will move confidently and has not spooked with me. I would not suggest her for speed, unless you just want a cute correct pattern to have fun. I have not jumped her, but she may do small cross rails 🤷🏼‍♀️

I did try breeding her this year because of her lovely foundation (89.06%)qh bloodlines, but she did not take and I did not look further into it medically (did not culture, did not pull hormone panel).

She does have heaves that can be easily managed without medication BUT she can NOT be kept in a heavily wooded turnout, she will need to be in a field with grass and CLEAN, dust free hay. This is her only maintenance at 16yrs old.

This is my personal horse, and I WILL be selective on where she goes - I rather her sit in my field than have the possibility of being tossed around homes.

Open to possibility of a lease, and lease to purchase with the right person. If I had the ability to have a riding program, this mare would not be going anywhere.I have young horses I need to focus on, and she's too small for my 6ft newbie BF to learn how to balance on.

Get your 👙 bikinis 👙 ready!

Our Bikini Barrel Race Fun Class will run on Sunday, August 25! Please share and let’s make this a full fun class!

✨ Pre Registration forms will be posted online the week of the show. We HIGHLY recommend you pre register. It saves us and you a ton of time on show morning! The WiFi is very sketchy which makes it hard for our computers to all adjust and show who is in what classes if we add or change anything.

✨ If you kept your back numbers from last show please bring with you for this show! If not we did order duplicates.

✨ If the weather cancels us *again* we do have a date booked but we won’t be able to run our full Halloween fun show. Thinking we’d have the series in the morning and hang around in the afternoon for a fun show if we have to.

Okay Snoop, we see you looking sharp! Now we need you to come to the NFR decked out in western attire 😍

Shout out to Bulls, Bands, & Barrels for putting on an amazing Rodeo in Reading, PA last weekend!

As a competitor, I highly recommend others to consider competing when they come into your town. The staff was amazing- every single one of them were very approachable, professional, clearly communicated and was just great to work with. The rodeo ran like a well oiled machine, and never once were we questioning what was happening or what we needed to do next.

I feel like everyone needs to experience a grand entry like that at least once in their life, really got the blood pumping!

Looking forward to hopefully competing in another one when they come back in town!

Here's another one! Farm workout 💪

I was unloading hay by myself and remembered half way through that maybe I should be tracking this "work out". Below is the last 30 minutes of work, so times the calories burned by 2.

Other than riding, what are some forms of a "farm" workout do you do???

What it's like being an equestrian in your 30's:

Getting excited that the window screens you had custom ordered is in production!

Operation "Cool-down-the-tin-can-called-a-horse-trailer" is underway! Aluminum trailers are great... until the summer, and without window bars the trailer window has to stay up, limiting the airflow resulting in some hot horses.

🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 these work for my needs! Will be sure to share if I find it does - no gate keeping here!

Stay cool y'all!

Something seldom thought of when on the hunt for a new horse : how it came to be in this world.

When looking at a trained 8yr old horse, you don't see the dream SOMEONE had 9+ years before. The blood, sweat, tears, long hours and money that gets put out before there is even a foal on the ground.

You don't see numerous vet appointments that the mare owner had to leave early from work for, using their personal leave meant for vacations, or maybe wake up at 5am before work to get a mare to the vet.

You don't see stallion owners trying their best to get their prized stud collected in time to ship out to reach the mare before she ovulates; both stallion and mare owner praying the shipment makes it in time and watching the tracking like a hawk.

You don't see the vet that is answering mare owner questions at all hours of the day, doing ultrasounds at 7am on weekends, and meeting the owner at 7pm to inseminate a waiting mare when a shipment was delayed.

There is so much not seen when you look at a horse, especially if you have never gone through the breeding process before.

So maybe next time you look at a horse and see on the registration that it was conceived via "transported semen", take a momment to appreciate the effort by all parties to bring this horse from a concept, to a reality.

**Pictured is a shipment that failed to be delivered but after 4 phone calls, several anxious hours and a trip to the distribution center, was able to be picked up and brought to the vet**
