Arcanum Exotics & Apothecary (ARCX) is the reborn version of West Coast Rattery. Run by the magical duo Riley and Ethan, ARCX aims to be your one-stop pet shop catering to BC and beyond. All species bred for pets are bred with health and temperament in mind. Quality lines are imported from Europe and the USA to ensure we work with only the very best. We have an impressive selection of handcrafted

Arbutus enrichment products and forage mixes, all ingredients and materials are ethically and sustainably sourced and are top quality. As of 2022 are working with feeder animals and insects to offer the island an ethical alternative. Every critter big OR small that we raise is treated like family members as they deserve, regardless of their intended purpose - never crammed into too-small a space or fed cheap diets to boost profit margin; our goal is to always do the best we can for the animals, and make a point of keeping up-to-date on current best practice knowledge. All pets have adoption applications to complete for approval, and all feeder mammals are sold F/T, never live.

Reminder, as per our last update, we are not currently operational. We have no rodents at all at this time. To add to your family, please check out Eversong Woods Rattery BC on the mainland. She ships to the island for a reasonable fee.

I am available to answer questions and assist adopters who have rats from me still but can not answer questions from non-clients as I have a newborn at home and my partner has returned to work. Free time is precious and very limited. Thank you for understanding. I will unfortunately leave messages from non-clients on read, it isn't personal I just literally do not have the time to answer/assist everyone though I wish I could. :(

I hope to rejoin the rat world once we are settled into parenthood and have a space to accommodate them once more.

This photo sucks but our news does not...

We have 4 does leaving soon to start training as Barn Hunt rats at Storm Haven Acres in the next couple weeks!

This is really cool, something I've heard a lot about but haven't experienced myself yet. Excited to have some of my babies ending up in this great home! I know she spoils her rats so much!!

Sort of out of the norm for us!

Hermit crabs available to new 🏡...
They come with everything pictured here in a 20 gallon long. Two water containers for fresh and salt water. Calcium, soaking salt, dried fruit/veg snacks, pellet food, variety snack, some fish pellets, what's left of our freeze dried crickets, lots of extra shells, a daytime blue bulb AND there are Armadillidium gestroi + springtails in the enclosure!

Good and bad news!

Our Speedwagon x Twingus litter isn't thriving, so my availability from Twingus litter and Monets litter will be limited or nil. I'm likely holding back most if not all or they're pre-claimed by the people hosting my rats. :)

However, I have paired a bunch this week!

ARCX Spyder Who Sat Down Beside Her (Spyder, RB rex/velv lightning blaze variegated) crossed onto ARCX Celestial Girl (Celeste, RB marble berkshire), ARCX Pandora Boxx (RE RB dumbo blaze variegated) and ARCX Miss Muffet (black blaze variegated dalmatian rex/velv) ... expecting a lot of RB, lots of loud markings, dalmatian, marble, dumbo and I'll find out if my rexoid gene is rex or velveteen!

ARCX Dragon Teeth (Cadmus, BE dumbo pointed Marten) crossed onto ARCX White Fire (Tanwen, RE pointed Marten) and EWR Mona Lisa (Mona, RE seal point Siamese) ... expecting RE and BE Marten and Siamese in dumbo and standard ear

ARCX Robert E. Speedwagon (Speedwagon, agouti hooded) crossed onto Rosebush's Pumpkin Spice Latte (Pumpkin, fawn hooded) to see if Speedwagons first litters FTT are genetic or not and to test his recessives ... expecting agouti hooded/vari, hoping for some red eye dilute (fawn)... we could see black based as well as both of them are Aa not AA
