JBarJ Horses and Services We specialize in providing quality all around horses that anyone can ride. We are dedicated to being good stewards towards our horses.

Providing them with the ability to be free from hunger, free from pain and fear, have the ability to behave normally by roaming in pasture, companionship of other horses, and having purpose in life through a job. Horse Leasing:
Our specialty is providing appropriate horses to guest ranches, 4Hers, trail riders, and outfitters for leasing. We are picky with our horses and put them through the paces

of ranching, parades, miles of trail riding, and packing hunt camps to ensure they are smart, safe, and exposed to a variety of situations. We value our horses and the people that ride them and put hours of training, handling, and care into our herd. We want them ready, able, and feeling their best to give you a great experience. Lessons:
Want to get started riding? Been a while and want a tune up or get comfortable again? I offer western lessons for anyone who would like to start riding or get back into it. Lessons are customized to you! We can work on care and feeding, tack, walk/trot, comfort in all gaits, barrel racing, roping, or 4H, I work with you on the level and pace that you are, no pushing here! I enjoy teaching people and sharing my love of horses! I can teach lessons off your horse or mine. Trail Rides:
If you are interested in a guided horseback ride through the Rockies, whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, I have the horses for you! I will match you up with a horse, mount up and take off in the Fairplay area.. Just sit back relax and discover the wilderness the way the cowboys did! Ages 5 and up can ride their own horse or 5 and under can ride double with a parent. I can take up to a group of five. You pick the time and amount of time you would like to ride. Rides are typically 2 hours, but can be customized to your group. Trotting/ Cantering is allowed. Sales:

People ask me why I do it.. Why I miss birthday parties, family dinners and any other special occasions. Why I spend hundreds upon thousands of dollars. Why I put a billion of miles on my vehicle running up and down the road.
Why I choose to leave early or stay late just to squeeze in those last minute sun setting long trot sessions. Why I haul 3 hours to the vet at the first sign of a issue when I won't spend the money or time to go to the ER myself. Why I wake up early and stay up all night. Why my horses eat on a strict schedule, while I eat anytime, anywhere I can.
Why sometimes it seems I'm choosing horses over relationships, people, and everything else in my life. Why do I do it? Why do I put myself, my family, my body, my finances through it? "what is one horse show going to matter?" The answer is simple but not understood by most everyone unless they live it.

What I do is who I am. It's not meant to be understood by anyone. It's an addiction, a hobby, a lifestyle and a world only us horse people understand. You won't stop... no matter the circumstances, the bad luck, how much you spent and wasted, the time you can never get back, you CANT stop.
You can take a break, sell out, lose faith, leave the horses standing in the pasture, But you never give it up. It's always there, in your every thought, memory and future dream. Goals will change but the desire never will. Months and years may shift how and when you go, how many horses you own and your level of interest. BUT, it never leaves. It's a God given passion to learn from and to use as a tool. When you ask me why.. my answer is WHY NOT?! Why not live everyday like it's my last! WHY not be a example to my family and friends as someone who never gave up!!! WHY not give it my all and see just how far I can go and what I can achieve! Why NOT??? My only hope and prayer is that everyone will find their.. "why do you it?" "

Going to keep this as simple as you should...Want to help your horse stay warm during cold nights??

Feed more hay!

Horses are better equipped to deal with cold than we are. Aside from their thick, insulated coat, the digestion of forage acts like an internal furnace to help warm them from the inside out.

You can use a slow feeder to slow down the fast eaters or “fluffy” ones (🙋🏼‍♀️ I have one of those!), but having access at all times is important.

A few other things to consider are adding extra salt or wetting down existing feed to help with water consumption. For older horses with bad teeth, increase their chopped forage or hay pellets at their evening meal.

Avoid adding things they don’t eat on a daily basis like a mash of something other than their normal feed or a type of hay they don’t already eat daily. This can only add to digestive distress.

At the end of a cold day, feed more hay 😘
