Itâs not just for the girls!
Dog nails grow at different speeds, similar to humans. Depending on your dog breed and natural filing, they may need their nails trimmed every 2 to 6 weeks. During your routine dog grooming appointment, the nails should be done by an experienced groomer all for the safety of your pet.
Dogs nails contain a soft spot called The âquickâ itâs a cuticle that contains a blood vessel and nerves that run through your dog's nail. If you nick the quick while trimming your dog's nails, it can be painful and cause bleeding. To stop the bleeding, you can apply pet styptic powder or gel and even corn starch can be a laseration aid.
Exposing the quick can potentially be dangerous. Overgrown nails can be more fragile and prone to fracturing which can cause pain, bleeding, infection, and other problems. Nails that grow too long can make it difficult for your dog to walk and run properly. So routine spa days, will keep your fur baby moving and grooving!
