How about fostering?

The most commonly asked question is, "Don't you get attached? How do you let go of your foster dog?" The answer is yes, we sure do become attached. It can be hard to say goodbye - foster homes put a lot of love and energy into their foster dogs. We always remind ourselves that we are just a way station; we give the dog a soft place to land and decompress until an approved forever home is identified.

Fostering is rewarding for the humans involved, but it is all about the dog and what is best for him or her. Sometimes we meet great adopters but they might not be right for that particular dog. We look out for the needs of the dog. When a perfect combination of adopter and dog creates a love connection, it is magic.

And that is how you change lives.

Hola, Malhon!

Malhon hails from Puerto Rico where he was a stray, but was picked up and fostered by a lovely lady in San Juan dedicated to helping the many homeless dogs in the area. He is 2 years old, and a long haired Chihuahua mix (and honorary Aussie), 25 lbs. He was pretty traumatized by his flight to Dulles but within days decided it was safe to venture outside the crate and mingle with the locals. Now he is quite relaxed and friendly with his foster family, and is working hard on his English!

Hey, hey, Hayzel!
Hazel is a 7 month old puppy who loves to play. She is a typical puppy who needs attention and be kept busy. She smart and, like most Aussies, craves mental stimulation. She is learning leash manners, does very well when there's nothing exciting like squirrels or cats around, so needs some work around distractions. Hayzel is housebroken. She's a friendly and happy-happy girl.

You say you want an Aussie but can't deal with all the hair? Luna Lou NS3990 may be just the girl for you. She is young, loves to play ball, but can calm down nicely in the house. We think there may be some border collie mixed in. She's a super sweet dog, curious, and smart as a whip. A home without cats is best.

Luna Lou, is a 11 month old female aussie mix with the greenest of eye, dark chocolate coloring with white markings and a tail. She has settled in very nicely to two human one dog rural VT home .
She loves outdoor fun but chills majorly in house with her humans and resident dog - no destruction behavior and corrects easily ( when not invited onto furniture). She has excellent recall, sits/stay for meals and to exit or enter house. She is crate trained for travel, down time, meals and sleep. She is a fun mate for the resident 5 yr old aussie. She is good w house visitors, although initial exhibits young dog excitibilty. Fosters working on people jumping and leash training. Previous home with visiting grandkids aged 3 and 7 with whom she played with. A wonderful loyal young dog, eager to please, and a quick learner. An investment in obedience classes to further cement her good habits and learn new ones would be perfect for Luna- A student for sure!

Happy, happy news, Kaii has been adopted!! He was waiting all this time for just the right home. Mary Ann has been eyeing Kaii for awhile, she also has another toy from New Spirit named LeeRoy who will be 16! Say hello to Marcie. Marcie is a petite 32 lb black tri Aussie with a bobtail that wiggles all the time. She came to us with Sylvester NS4023 and Leita NS4022, and like them, is very sweet and loving. She wants nothing more than to be cuddled and loved and close to her people.
