Hello and thank you for your interest in volunteering with H.A.R.T. We accept animals from puppy mills, stray cats and dogs, animal abuse victims, and overflow from shelters, etc. There is never a lack of work, only a lack of volunteers. We are glad you would like to help us save the animals. We ask for no specific time commitment, only that you love our animals. There are many volunteer opportuni

ties available at H.A.R.T., a few are listed below. You may sign up for as many teams as you would like. If you do not see a job that you want – don’t be shy, just tell us what you would like to do – we are always open to suggestions. Foster Coordinator: HART is unique in that we do not have a building. All of our animals are fostered in the homes of volunteers until they are adopted. Foster Coordinators interview foster applicants and conducts reference checks and home visits before a foster applicant is approved. Foster Parent: Living with a foster family enables the animals to become socially adjusted to home life while experiencing lots of love, often for the first time in their lives. While fostering, HART pays all medical bills and provides supplies. The more fosters we have the more animals we can bring home. Animal Transport: There are times when our Foster Parents are unable to pick up or deliver an animal to/from the vets, an-adopt-a-thon, or between fosters. Transport volunteers act as chauffeurs. Rescue: When we get a call about an animal in need, we have to act fast. Rescue Volunteers are the first on sight. We never know where the call will come from only that an animals needs help ASAP. This team will determine if we can accept the animal into our program and make arrangements for getting the animal into a veterinarian for HART protocol and the work closely with the Foster Coordinator to place in a home. Lost Animal Search – All too often we get a call from someone whose pet has been lost. We try to help everyone. It can be time consuming but very rewarding to bring a lost pet home. Adoption Follow Up: This team calls the new family and visits the animals in their new home to make sure the animal is happy and adjusting well to the new environment. Special Events – Throughout the H.A.R.T plans and schedules adopt-a-thons and a variety of fundraising events such as a golf tournament, puppy baby shower, dog walk, silent auction to name a few. Volunteers are needed to plan and run these events. Communications: H.A.R.T. relies heavily on email and phone trees to reach our volunteers. Communications volunteers would assist with this critical function. Marketing: It is important that the public knows what HART does and when we are doing it. Press releases, free advertising opportunities, media coverage, etc. would all help our cause.

Meet Love Bug!

Love Bug was found as a stray, crossing a busy street and nearly getting run over. Fortunately he made it and was rescued by a HART foster. He lives up to his name, a super sweet, affectionate kitty that loves being pet and belly rubs. He has a very laid back personality and gets along with other cats.

All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative.

If you are interested in any of our kitties, you must complete an online cat adoption application available at www.rescueahart.org/adopt/cat-application. The application will put you in touch with a HART volunteer.

Meet Rubie!

Rubie was found by a HART foster under her 85 year old neighbors deck with five - four week old kittens. She took very good care of them and kept them safe.

Rubie is approximately 1 year old, having babies of her own. Well, no more babies for Rubie. Once mama was no longer nursing she was fully vetted and spayed. She is now ready to enjoy being her own kitten again, and steal her way into your heart and home.

Rubie is very sweet and loving she enjoys being petted and sitting on your lap, and loves watching the birds out the window. She is shy at first but will warm up quickly, she deserves a great forever home.

Rubie should be fine around other cats, with proper introduction. She would do well around older children who respect her space, rather than little ones who might like to grab. She hasn't been tested around dogs, that we are aware of.

Meet Oliver!

Oliver was found on the side of the road and a good Samaritan stopped to help him and called HART. When he came into the foster home he was pretty scared and hungry. He needed a safe quiet space to decompress and adjust to regular food and water. After a few weeks, he started to play with his foster family! Oliver was still very scared and would run if you moved too quickly but he was making progress and feeling more comfortable. We found out the quickest way to his heart is through treats! He loves them and will come running to you to get more! He knows the nightly treat routine well and will be waiting patiently for his turn.

Oliver takes a little bit to warm up but will come out of his shell fairly quickly to get treats and to play! He loves wand toys and shoe strings best. He doesn't mind being brushed but generally takes good care of his grooming needs. He will butt his head into your hand and enjoys full back scratches all the way to the tip of his amazing tail. Oliver is curious and likes to explore and see what's going on.

Oliver tends to follow the lead of other cats, so a home with a confident, friendly cat will be a great fit for him! He is always rubbing his head against the resident cats and playing with the other foster kittens! He gets along with the resident dog too! He will do best in a home where he is given time to adjust and learn the routine.

Oliver is around 1-2 years old and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered.

All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative.

My name Rylie. I am the smallest of my siblings. I love to be held and coddled. I am also the escape artist so you will need to watch me around any open doors. I also like to hide under the furniture. I love to lounge in the cat tree run and chase with my siblings. I also like to lay in the bathroom sink. I'm not good around small children. I will need to go to a home with another cat or one of my siblings.

My siblings and I were found in my foster mom's complex under her 85 year old neighbor's deck She was trying the best she could to feed us but she is handicapped. My foster mom stepped up and trapped my mom and all five of us kittens.

Once mom could be separated she was vetted /spayed and is ready for her forever home. She took very good care of us during our first 4 weeks of life until my foster mom stepped in. My foster mom took very good care of us got us the vetting needed, and when we were big enough we were spayed and neutered now we are ready for our forever home.

I was born April, 2024.

Meet Annie!

Annie was found on the side of the road by a good Samaritan who stopped to help her called HART. When she came into the foster home she was nervous and hungry. She needed a safe, quiet space to decompress and adjust to regular food and water. After a few weeks, she started to play with her foster family! She was still very scared and would run if you moved too quickly but she was making progress and feeling more comfortable. We found out the quickest way to her heart is through playing! She will come running to chase a wand toy or string!

Annie loves to be pet and will purr and knead as long as she is in a space where she feels safe. Routine goes a long way with her! She is always waiting for me in the same spot every morning and we start the day with a nice pet/back scratch session. She butts her head into my hand and just purrs and purrs.

When it is just the family in the house she feels comfortable roaming around, playing, gazing out the windows, and just living her life! Annie is still very tentative and will startle easily. Sudden movements and loud noises can be scary! She does tend to hide when new people come to visit, but she will come back out after a while and go back to whatever she was doing.

Annie does well with the resident cats and doesn't mind the resident dog either (though he is pretty calm and very good with cats), though she would be fine as an only cat as well. She generally just ignores the other animals. Every now and then I will catch her engaging with one of the other cats, but she usually prefers to be on her own. I don't believe she would do well in a home with small children since she is easily scared by sudden movements and noises. I think she will do best in a calm, quiet home where she is given time to adjust. Annie is a very low maintenance cat who would make a great companion!

Annie is around 1-2 years old and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered.

All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative.

ADOPTED!

Hi. I’m Toothless and I love to snuggle! If you’re looking for a nap buddy, I’m your guy!

I came to HART after being discovered wandering around my neighborhood with some other kittens, but I definitely prefer the indoor life! I like to run and play with other kitties but my favorite thing to do is snuggle up and get cozy, especially if there is a soft blanket and a friendly person!

I’m 4-5 months old so I would be happiest being adopted with a kitten buddy. My friend Stormfly is my favorite, but I’m pretty flexible if you already have a kitten at home that I can hang out with.

HART recommends kittens 6 months of age and younger be adopted in pairs.

Hi, I’m Stormfly. I’m named after one of the dragons in How to Train Your Dragon.

I came to HART when I was about a month old after being found alone in a storm drain. I was very small and needed some TLC and bottle feeding, but I have grown up into a very fun girl!

I’m almost 5 months old and I love to play/wrestle with the other kittens in my foster home. I have a lot of energy, so I would be happiest being adopted with another kitten to keep me out of trouble. Sometimes I get noisy when I “attack” but I don’t mean any harm. Once I have burned off some energy I like to cuddle.

HART recommends kittens 6 months of age and younger be adopted in pairs.

Meet Sunday!

Sunday is a 1.5 year old lab mix, who loves his people! He weighs about 50 pounds. He gets along well with other dogs and was tested around some cats and he did not seem bothered by them. He loves to play and does great with children as well.

He sometimes does not know his size so older kids may be best, but not a deal breaker. He would benefit greatly from some basic training. He has gone on a few walks and does decent on a leash but constant training would benefit him greatly.

Sunday will benefit best from an active family who will go on lots of walks and play with him or a family with other dogs to help burn out the lab energy he has. He does well in his crate while we are gone and overnight. He does whine at bit when he initially goes into his crate but eventually settles down.

Unfortunately due to him being abandoned prior to coming to HART he does have some separation anxiety but we believe once he grows used to your routine he will be fine. Sunday is looking for his forever home to share his love and give plenty of kisses.

All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks!
