Thanks for the little video Mirjam!! Glad y'all could swing by and say Hi.
Sienna- 4th lesson on Rosie. Learning to post trot.
Annie. First session using a feed bag. Preparing for the first ride with good desensitization work. (Aka: Killing two birds with one stone.) I've already done other preliminary foundation work with her. :^)
Even though Dusty was unsure of it at first, he dealt with it and didn't try to run. Even if he had, I would have worked to build his confidence. By the end of the session, I had it flapping around him and over his back. Then I saddled him and had him drag it all over the pasture for a good while. He's a brave, sensible boy.
Dusty. Introduction to the dreaded horse-eating tarp. :^) Taking time to build confidence.
Sometimes it's nice to take a break from training, just hop on bareback and enjoy the ride with an old friend. I think Ransom enjoyed it too.
Day 2. Working Trenton on the double longe line. Also rode him for a little bit, working on yielding his jaw. Good improvement from yesterday.
I asked alot of Trenton today but I knew he could handle the challenge. What an improvement from beginning to end. It will get easier from here.
My first time to ride Dusty. (He hasn't been ridden in almost 2 years.) Quiet, sensible and fun!
Cody- Backing exercise
Backing always seems to be the hardest thing for some horses. I just kept at it, being consistent and persistent with Cody. He eventually understand and it's easier now. One thing for sure, there is never a breakthrough without follow-through.
Dusty/Annie- Home
Dusty and Annie arrived at my place this afternoon. Getting acquainted with all the horses.
Cody- Longeing
Good improvements this past week. More responsive and sensitive. Cody is a very mellow and very light even when working in the open pasture. For him, the goal is to teach him to move with more purpose since he is so laid back.
