The horses experienced their first micro burst a few days ago. Both the horses are safe, thankfully the trees missed the fence. Was able to a beautiful picture of Summer after the storm.

I love being able to lay on the grass with my mare and spend time with her while she has some fresh grass.

Sometimes it’s better to just spend time with your horses. if you only see them to give them food, water, and ride you don’t mean as much to your horse as you’d like to think. Horses are a herd animal they need to be around other horses. Smokey is a stud (for now) so sadly I can’t have them together so it is extremely important I personally spend time with them as they are both my personal horses.

There is something to be said about a chestnut mare. I have seen for sale adds that say “no chestnut mare!” Or in search of adds say “anything but a chestnut mare”. These people will never know the pure joy of having a deep emotional bond with these horses. Chestnut mares doesn’t have a boss, they aren’t bossy like most people think. Chestnut mares crave a partnership, and once you have a partnership with one of these mare it is something so beautiful it warms your soul.
I have been lucky enough to have my mare for 10 years now. It hasn’t always been easy but it has always been worth it.

Summer was nervous because of the wind, which made her want to go back to her pasture buddy but she felt comfortable enough to keep working with me without getting to a high level of stress. Very proud of her

I had a dream last night that I took Summer for a ride and it made my soul feel at peace. When I woke up I had such a sense of peace. So I took her for a ride, she picked where we went. Moments like this are what fills my soul 🌸💜

Smokey is not quite comfortable with my spraying bug spray on his ears so I decided to put Summer old fly mask on to see how it hold up. Over the years I have heard so many bad this about stallions. As I young child I thought stallions were mean and had bad temperaments, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It is truly a pleasure when your horse would rather be with you than eating freshly cut hay that she nickered for when she saw it. The bond between a horse and their person is something incredible. I have heard from a lot of people saying that they have a hard time catching their horses. One thing people lose sight of is what’s fun and enjoyable for the horse. Imagine if you only saw someone when they feed you and work you.
