Compassionate Animal Rescue Team We are a nonprofit 501c3 animal rescue organization in the Panhandle of NW Florida & dedicated in assisting in volunteer transport of pets to better lives.

We foster for other rescues that have older or special needs pets or pets needing temporary homes. We are an all-volunteer non profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of pets in the Northwest Florida area that have "special" needs or are homeless/abandoned/abused or neglected;

We provide or assist in providing:

Rescue, foster care, veterinary/rehabilitation care and ster

ilization for animals in our area and/or located in government funded shelters or "kill" shelters that would otherwise be euthanized or harmed;

Assist other animal rescues and shelters throughout the area needing help to relocate rescued pets, including assistance in transporting the pet(s) to a safe and secure re-homing environment;

Foster care for animals surrendered or abandoned by their owners who either can no longer provide for the pets or no longer wish to have them in their homes;

Adoption of rescued pets to qualified homes that have been properly screened and counseled by our adoption coordinators and foster parents to maintain the pet in a loving home for its lifetime;

Training of leadership team members and volunteers in the areas of humane education, animal welfare, animal behavior and care, and disaster response;

Education to the public in the form of flea infestation control and heartworm prevention in pets, adoption counseling, pet behavior consultation and training, addressing any behavioral/medical/special needs issues, low-cost microchip clinics, and hurricane evacuation planning. OUR GOAL is to lower euthanasia rates at county animal controls by bringing adoptable pets into our program for medical and social rehabilitation and re-homing. We encourage pet owner responsibility/commitment to their pets and help prevent their contributing to the homeless pet population (i.e. spay/neuter awareness, micro-chipping, etc.).

12-30-24 - C.A.R.T. was part of Mama Laney & her puppies, Rocky & Natasha., on their 2nd & final day of travel from Texas to Southeast Beagle foster in South Florida. Puppies were separate in crate alone as they both had coccidia which is highly contagious. Of course they had a great poopy time & were starving when they got to their final destination as they had not eaten all day. Mama Laney was such a darling & was probably glad not to be with the puppies.

12-21-24 - C.A.R.T. headed to Marianna with Beau & Trav to help get them to Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue fosters in south Florida. Both had been with us two weeks. Beau is very skittish of noises & hesitant with humans until he feels safe. Trav is a chewer & mischief maker; wanted to counter surf but is improving. Both are crate & mostly potty trained. They preferred sleeping together in large open crate. Then we headed back to Walton County Animal Shelter to pick up Peggy Sue to foster her & get her out of noisy shelter.. Beagles are the best!!!

12-21-24 - C.A.R.T. picked up Peggy Sue from Walton County Animal Shelter today. She will be fostered by us until Tampa Bay Beagle finds her a foster spot closer to Tampa, Florida. She is a 37 lb. timid soul that is 14 years old. & has a nodule just at the beginning of the inside of left ear which does not interfere with her hearing. Unless nodule gets infected. we will not consider surgery nor will we ever consider spaying her because of her age. She is heartworm free which is amazing & wonderful. She likes to sleep in large open covered crate which seems to be her safe place. She was having a very difficult time adjusting to shelter life & had basically shut down. but she is already showing signs of a loving & gentle personality. We are so glad she is fitting in perfectly with our group of small doggies.

12-16-24 - C.A.R.T. enjoyed helping transport these 2 on their 3rd & final day of journey to Suncoast Basset Hound Rescue approved foster family in South Florida. They started their trip in Oklahoma.They seem to be bonded as one cried a lot as it was in separate crate & could not see the other one. Short, heavy little rascals with those long droopy ears - - no mixed breed in them. Loved every minute they were with me.

12-14-24 - C.A.R.T was privileged to help with transport of Penny, Sophie & Tori to Marianna on their 3rd day of 4 total days on their journey to Big Cypress German Shepherd Rescue in south Florida. Thanks to Spa for Paws in Texas for saving these adorable puppies. There was a slight hiccup in meeting place but all worked out well, & transport stayed on schedule.

12-13-24 - C.A.R.T. assisted this bundle of joy on her 1st of a 3-day journey to Champs Chance Rescue in Arizona. We headed to Pensacola with Miss Nola & hated to let her go. She dearly loves to ride in vehicles & watch the world go by. She is a lovebug that will have no problem finding her forever family.

12-7-24 C.A.R.T.'s second transport of the day involved going to Walton County Animal Shelter to pick up two Beagles, Beau & Trav, to foster for Tampa Bay beagle until they can find a spot for them further south. Beau is the older one with skin issues. Some bare & rough spots on legs indicate he was crated all the time. He is skittish but sweet. Trav is younger & active. Both are obedient & not aggressive with toys/food or dogs but counter surf if food close to front of countertop. They mark in house but are potty trained if taken outside on a regular basis, especially about 15 or 20 minutes after meals. It is a challenge for ole lady Teresa.

12-7-24- C.A.R.T helped send her foster, Miss DayDay, & Tay to Marianna, Florida where they were headed further south to an approved foster for Tampa Bay Beagle. It was a sad time to give up DayDay but know she will find a home quickly as she was a most precious, well behaved Beagle & as perfect as doggies can get. I had to cry when we parted, but God has made my heart big so that I can continue to foster & help transport needy pets.
