URGENT: Short-Term Dog Fosters Needed!

With the impending winter storm, the Forsyth County Pet Resource Center urgently needs individuals who can provide temporary foster homes for shelter dogs. This will help keep the dogs safe and comfortable during the storm. The Resource Center will provide crates and all necessary supplies, and you don’t need to be an established foster to participate. If you’re interested, please reach out to us at [email protected], and we will match you with a shelter dog in need.

Fosters must be able to pick up their dog by 4 PM tomorrow, with anticipated drop-off on Sunday afternoon or Monday, depending on weather conditions. While we have plans for animals unable to find foster homes, we are hoping to limit the strain on our dedicated staff, who will be working overnight to care for the animals. Your help would make a significant difference in ensuring the safety and well-being of our shelter pets during this challenging time.

Yesterday we lost Apple 💔
Apple was the 10+ years old female pittie we rescued from SEAACA shelter 16 months ago. This sweet little granny was dumped at the shelter after she was overbred. She had many masses. She was the sweetest beautiful dog. We did our best to make her feel loved at the end of her life. She had 16 months with our rescue.
Do you know when the animal abuse will end? Do you know when human will stop breeding dogs in their backyards with terrible conditions? It will only stop when you stop buying. Adopt dont shop.

Tonight, many of our Advocates are thinking about the dogs chained to trees and all the other unchained, abandoned dogs without shelter. There are so many out there without a place to keep warm.

Over the next 10 days and maybe beyond, the forecasters are predicting overnights to be below freezing, as low as 15° in north Georgia. If you know about a dog who is unsheltered, or has inappropriate shelter, please reach out to Georgia Dog Advocates, or your county's Animal Control. If we can't help, we can give advice. I also think that many rescue groups would provide a bale of straw (not hay) at the very least.

Roscoe , Bear and Pearl’s favorite game! FIND IT! 😀The “find it” game is a dog enrichment activity where you toss a treat near your dog and say “find it”. Once your dog gets the hang of the game, you can make it more challenging by hiding treats for them to find. Basically, you want to play games that encourage your dog to think, to use problem-solving skills, and figure things out. It’s lots of fun, it builds confidence, and it helps tire them out if they’ve got some extra energy or the weather is miserable outside!Good lil seekers! 🐾🐾🐾🫶🏽
