2 Short Term Puppy Raisers Wanted!
We are looking for two short term placements for our youngest pups in the program. This placement will only be for December and January.
What does a Puppy Raiser do?
You will invite the PSSDiT into your home and look after them day to day. This will include bringing them to vet appointments, after spay/neuter care, training sessions and social time. You will follow our puppy raiser guidelines and be help support our puppies as they grow and becomes Psych Support Service Dogs!
All things needed for our 10 month old puppies will be supplied by Sunshine Service Dogs including food, leashes, collars, toys and a crate.
Our ideal candidate would be someone whom has a flexible schedule, experience with dogs, lives in the Saskatoon area and can transport our puppies when needed.
If you are willing to open up your home for a few months to a wonderful Black Lab puppy please shoot us and email at [email protected]

We had a wonderful guest come by our PSSD Training class last night! All the pups did wonderfully and Santa was very patient with our pups training!
We have some more to announce coming soon so stay tuned :)

We have been a little quiet on the socials lately. Sorry everyone.
What have the dogs been up to you ask?
Well just about everything!
Shadow and Sully have been going on lots of adventures both on and off their vests! These two will soon be 9 months old, can you believe it!!
Dutch had his first sleep over with his handler this weekend and did amazing! Dutch will be a year old in November!
Last but certainly not least, Rip! Rip has been with his handler full time for quite sometime now and is mastering the art of being amazing! He had his first big road trip out to BC last week, it was a lot of work but a lot of fun as well! Rip will be 1.3 years old soon!
We still need to make $3000 more dollars to accomplish our goal! If you or anyone you know has considered donating, now is the time. We accept cash, e transfer or cheque to [email protected]

We are just under 1/2 way to our goal fundraising of $7000. If you’re considering donating to these amazing pups and their journey, now is the time!
Did you know Saskatchewan has very little standards for Service Dog training in the province? This is why we train to Alberta standard including a Public Access Test to ensure our dogs are ready for Service and if Sask decides to update their service dog standards (we can only hope)
Our Labradors of Dunrovin pups are growing fast and will need spay, neuter and health testing right soon, and that’s where you come in!

Just had to share some bragging texts today about Dutch and Shadow!
“I’m super proud of him
And everyone loves him
My supervisor thinks he’s calmed the whole place with his energy”
Dutch has been going to work with his Puppy Raiser and yes he’s doing amazing!
“Have to brag about little Shadow🙂. Walked yesterday thru a school yard as the kids were leaving school. Kids everywhere. Running by us. Moving erratically, as kids do. Shadow walked thru, looking around but totally calm & controlled. 😍”
With all the busyness of kids, I Love Love Love that our girl can walk through without a worry and all the confidence :)

What did our PSSDiT do for the long weekend you ask?
- Rested
- Recharged
- Spent time with friends and family
- Worked a little bit (but always on call)
- More time with family
- Be one with nature!
Our pups work hard! But also love some down time and deserve it!

Our PSSDiT pups have been hard at work exploring our wonderful planet we call home!
This world can be big and scary that’s why we show them all the things to ensure they know how to respond and how to help their humans!

Did anyone see us at The Meewasin Trail the last few weeks? If so, say hi next time!!
Our Psych Support Service Dogs in Training (PSSDiT) and their handlers have been out and about in this beautiful summer weather!
We have made a really good dent in our fundraising goal! So thank you for everyone whom has donated so far!
We are slowly making our way to our goal of $7200!

Over the coming 4 months, we will be pushing hard to prepare for our pups coming spays and neuters and OFA testing as well as new equipment for all of our dogs.
Our goal is to raise $7000. Think we can do it?

We have waited a little bit to announce it but, we would like to introduce another member of the Sunshine Service Dog pups, Dutch!
Dutch is currently 8 months old and was named after the late TSN commentator Darren “Dutch” Dutchyshen as a homage to great Saskatchewanian and overall great human.
Dutch has already been placed with a wonderful human and has progressed wonderfully in his training to become a Psych Support Service Dog! He may look a little different then our other goof balls of Rip, Sully and Shadow but he’s still got the same heart of gold and willingness to work and love his human unconditionally! We are excited to see how he progresses in his training and stay tuned for more updates on Dutch!

Reminder: we start our Walk-in Nail Trims for Sunshine Service Dogs this Saturday 10am-4pm. Come on down and if not, don’t hesitate to share!

Walk in Nails Saturdays!
Yes that’s right, we are going to bring back a very popular fundraiser, Walk in Nail Trims Saturdays.
Starting Saturday July 27th, every Saturday we will be open 10am to 4pm for walk in nail trims. We will run this for 4 weeks and have our final nail trim Saturday August 17th. Here’s what you need to know:
-100% of the proceeds will go to Sunshine Service Dogs.
- $10 per nail trim but donations are welcome as well! (Cash or e transfer is accepted only)
- Nails trims are open to the public and on a first come first serve basis.
- Owners need to be present the entire time
- We will also be offering Baths and Blowouts on these days as well but must be scheduled ahead of time (owners do not have to be present for baths and blowouts)
- No appointment needed just come on by 2015 Alberta Ave!

First day on the vest for Miss Shadow and she was a rock star! A visit to City Hospital with her puppy raiser!
Our Puppy Raisers have a close relationship with their puppies and are a wealth of knowledge into the mind of their PSSDiT. We are very lucky to have such amazing Puppy Raisers!
Shadow although a little timid, is confident and sassy with her familiars and once we are on vest, it’s all business. Let’s be honest, what better way to spend the day than in a A/C facility!

We are officially big puppies now! The Service Dog Vest officially fits!
Sully is out and about today with his handler enjoying my personal favourite place, the library!
He has met and exceeding all our expectations so far and we are so excited to see him grow! Stay tuned for an update on Shadow!

Do you like your Labradors: lightly toasted (yellow), toasted (chocolate) or Crispy (Black)?
We will now be referring to our PSSDiT Sully, Shadow and Rip as Crispy Labrador Retrievers!
Our youngest PSSDiT Sully and Shadow had a nice bath today, getting them used to being handled, washed and nails trimmed on a regular basis! Needless to say they did fantastic! More fantastic news! These two cuties are now officially fully vaccinated and will be ready for more training and some daycare days as well!
The Keller Crew of Jenny and Delilah also got involved in the baths today although maybe less enthusiastic about it!
I can’t get over Mr. Sully’s head tilt!
