The shelter has been extremely busy and is very full!
It has been overwhelming for the animals and their caretakers.

If you’ve come by the shelter you may already know this about Uma! She is a chatty gal when out in the play yards. Telling stories to get all the attention 🎙️
Uma is a beautiful dog with lots of love to give! She is a very affectionate and brave dog who is always curious about the world around her. She is friendly to everyone she meets and loves to play and receive pets. Uma is very smart and protective of her loved ones. She enjoys being the center of attention and having a good time. Uma has so much love to give and is a very healthy dog for her age. She would be the perfect companion for someone looking for an independent, yet loving dog. Please take note, Uma is not good with other female dogs. She would prefer to be the only dog in the household. She has shown some resource guarding with high value food items so her new home should be capable of managing and working on that with her. Uma was a free roaming dog prior to coming into the shelter.

Bodie is a spirited and exuberant dog, always eager to play and explore. His enthusiasm is contagious, and he approaches each day with a wagging tail and some barking. His strong personality means that he can be a bit dog reactive, making him a better fit for experienced dog owners who understand the needs of a Border Collie and can provide him with the proper training and socialization.
As Bodie is a Border Collie, he is naturally agile and athletic. He loves to run, jump, catch frisbees and engage in any other activity that challenges his mind and body. He is a very quick learner, and he thrives on mental stimulation. He will need to be kept busy with puzzle toys and interactive games to keep him happy.
While Bodie’s energy and intelligence make him a wonderful companion, his dog reactivity may be challenging. He is not suitable for households with children and needs an owner who is willing to and able to manage his strong-willed nature. Bodie will need to be the only pet in the household as he displays resource guarding towards other dogs. With the right guidance and consistent training, Bodie will be able to learn to navigate his surroundings with more confidence.

Maggie has been through a lot and we suspect was a mommy more than once, but her gentle spirit remains unbroken.
She would do best in a quiet home where she can feel safe and comfortable as she blossoms.
She doesn’t pay attention to other dogs and says she prefers to be the solo dog.

She is an intelligent and athletic dog who is always curious about her surroundings.
Despite her age, Ellie is playful and enjoys going for walks, playing with toys, and having a good run around.

Ellie was found tied to a tree in a local park, so not much is known about her past. However, it is clear that she was well taken care of and is well-trained.
She is a respectful dog who is friendly with humans and ignores most other dogs.
Ellie is looking for a calm and peaceful home where she can relax and enjoy her golden years.
She needs owners who are experienced with active dogs and can handle her prey drive and her occasional reactivity towards other dogs.
She would do best in a home without small pets, as she has a strong prey instinct.

Tulee came in with a dog companion, Ellie.
No one is sure what their relationship is to each other tho. Friends for sure and found together in a park in Vancouver. Abandoned, tied to a tree together 😔
The more time staff and volunteers have spent with this duo the less time this duo has wanted to spend together.
It has been determined that they would likely be better in separate homes at this time. 💗
The shelter is seeking foster homes for both dogs now that they have been spayed.

But, seriously; Denali has been at the shelter for more than six months now and is starting to lose hope.
She already lost her mom and home, tragically and suddenly. 😢
Denali enjoys being a big puppy and everyone who understands that’s what she is!
A big, goofy girl who loves to play, go for walks and then settle in by your side.
Safety, comfort and calm between playing and little adventures make her a most content companion💖
Denali is most comfortable with women and needs time with men to warm up. Toys, treats, soft voices and kind words win her over💛
If you have a big enough couch for you and Denali she is ready to share it with you!
