โ€ข 1/2 cup butter
โ€ข 1 1/2 cup sugar
โ€ข 2 eggs
โ€ข 2 (1-oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
โ€ข 2 cups sifted cake flour
โ€ข 1 tsp. salt
โ€ข 1 cup buttermilk
โ€ข 1 tsp. vanilla extract
โ€ข 1 tsp. baking soda
โ€ข 1 Tbsp. vinegar

โ€ข 1/2 cup butter, softened
โ€ข 3 cups confectionersโ€™ sugar
โ€ข 3 (1-oz) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
โ€ข 1 tsp. vanilla extract
โ€ข Half-and-half (if necessary)

๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 9-inch cake pans. Line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl or standing mixer, cream butter until light and fluffy. Add sugar and beat until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in melted chocolate.
3. In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt. Add buttermilk and chocolate mixture, alternating. Stir in vanilla.
4. In a small bowl, dissolve baking soda in vinegar. Slowly add this to the chocolate mixture. Mix just until blended. Do not over-mix.
5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes then remove from pans. Transfer to wire racks and cool completely before frosting.

Sponge chocolate squares without eggs๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜
Ingredients:
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour a square baking pan.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, combine the water, vegetable oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until well combined. The batter will be thin.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cake is completely cooled, cut it into squares.
You can dust the squares with powdered sugar, cocoa powder, or drizzle with chocolate sauce if desired.
