Equine Solutions: Sports Massage Therapy It's my goal to help your horse be comfortable, healthy, and happy to do his job--whatever that may be! Your horse will need to be brushed clean and dry.

Equine Solutions, LLC came about due to my desire to help the horses in my barefoot hoof care practice achieve a more comfortable, balanced state. I first pursued education and certification from Equissage California. After receiving certification as an equine sports massage therapist (E.S.M.T.), I continued my education through Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage, to receive c

ertification in large and small animal acupressure. I am continuing through their levels, now working on achieving an advanced certification. I also have level 1 certification in Photonic Light Therapy or cold laser therapy. A typical equine sports massage will last an hour to an hour and a half depending on the issues the horse is dealing with. The massage can take place in his stall or in cross ties. A quiet place where your horse is comfortable and relaxed is best. I offer sports massage alone, or combined with the other adjunct therapies as needed. Saddle-fit consultations are available anytime, and ill-fitting saddles are one of the most common causes of muscle pain.

Show season is here! If your equine partner could use a bodywork session, reach out and schedule an appointment! I typically need four horses at a barn to schedule a day trip to Utah or Salt Lake counties, but barns can combine also. I’m planning on being at Skyline on May 8, so let me know asap if you’d like to get on my list that day.

I combine equine sports massage, red light therapy, and laser acupuncture to create a custom session depending on your horse’s needs. I have over eight years experience and would love to help your horse reach his absolute best physical potential!

Happy SPRING! I’ve had a couple of clients ask recently if there is a difference between sports massage and “regular massage.” The short answer is YES! The long answer is below:

The difference is less “feel good massage “ and more of a deep or intense technique, accelerating the release of muscle tension and breaking up of adhesions, which results in the mobilization of the muscle tissue and increased healing.

Tightened muscle fibers can affect bone alignment, gait, and comfort. If left untreated one “tight” adhesion in a muscle can affect a whole muscle or kinetic chain. A good sports massage therapist will be able to separate and loosen adhesions in the muscle tissue, allowing for removal of metabolites and lactic acid, as well as restoring full muscle elasticity. This will allow the muscles to receive crucial oxygen and nutrients important for healing, continued work and muscle development.

This is the type of muscle work I do; combined with cold laser therapy and laser acupuncture. As you ramp up your riding program in preparation for shows and competition, consider making an appointment so that I can help keep your horse’s muscles happy and healthy! You horse will certainly thank you!
