It was such a privilege to work with some fantastic ex racehorses at the weekend whilst they were at the RoR camp at Lincomb Equestrian Centre. Beautiful horse's given a second chance at a fulfilling life, all of whom are now in the expert care of owners who are passionate about their welfare. It really is such a myth that these horses are the thugs of the horse world, I watched them all working together in the fabulous arena's at Lincomb and didn't witness a single meltdown!
Brilliant day. Thank you to everyone for asking me along, and Amy Bannister Bell for organising such a fantastic camp.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and made it home safely.

The Importance of good dental work.
For years I've struggled with this one, who genuinely hates having his teeth done. I have had numerous dentists look at him, all of them except one have battled against his grim determination to make it difficult. I have been told by one well known drama queen, that it was the worse mouth he had ever seen, and another respected expert tried to punch him in the face when he fought the anaesthetic with every breath of his body. Finally thanks to the diminutive Kate Davidson of Little Rock Equine, we were able to find out why! In the picture of the interior of his mouth if you look carefully he has some rather large retained Wolf teeth, but the really shocking discovery can be seen in the other picture. If you zoom in on his tongue, you will see a large thick scar running almost the width of the underside. This will probably explain his real fear of dental work and his hatred of having his mouth touched in any way. Without the help of Kate and her brilliance at not only dental work but anaesthesia, this would have remained a mystery
So why is this so important? The horse has to be comfortable in his mouth to be able to perform to his best ability.
There are not many horses that are as extreme in reactions as this one, but good dentistry is crucial for all equines and should never be undervalued. Listen to what your dentist tells you, take a photo for reference and never be afraid to ask questions! Oh and give me a call if you would like some help.
