I put my very first English Angora - Somerset Dandelion, on the show table almost exactly three years ago, totally stripped of her glorious coat by my over zealous grooming🙈
Yesterday was my return to the show table with another equally beautiful Angora, in a line up of truly wonderful examples of the breed. 💕
To say I was nervous, is an understatement. WA is the home to Somerset Angoras - which I have been in awe of since joining the rabbit fancy, and Melissa DeNiese - who has to be one of the best rabbit groomers in the country! So, the competition is tough, to say the least! 🙊
I have been incredibly fortunate to start with the very best English Angora lines in Australia (in my opinion) and warm and welcoming breed mentors - with so much experience.
So much thanks and appreciation to Adrienne and Melissa of Somerset Stud for continuing to trust me with their rabbits, answering my questions and making show days so enjoyable for me. And to Chris Heaphy of Rivkah Stud for trusting me with this very special girl, for spending hours of her time - in person and down the phone - teaching, encouraging, doing her very best to stop me from over thinking & doubting myself and for her uplifting, soul warming friendship.
I couldn’t be more proud of Dream’s results from yesterday or more relieved that my very novice grooming skills didn’t let her down! 😅
