Okay friends, we hit a lull — but WOW, what a comeback! 🎉

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve just hit $10,000, which means together with our first two matches, you’ve helped us raise $20,000 for the sanctuary! And the good news keeps coming — we have yet another amazing match challenge!

Our friend Ralph from Werndli Charitable Fund wants to bring us home to our $30,000 goal with yet another $5,000 match! Thank you, Ralph! Let’s do this!

Wow! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Your generosity is incredible, and we’re so grateful for your support.

We’re excited to share that we have another $5,000 Match Challenge thanks to a group of donors we’re calling the Spread Compassion Dream Team: Ellen Lawrence, Bri Krantz, Alissa and Bob Gander, and an anonymous compassion champion!

This means that, combined with the match from The Levy Giving Fund, all donations up to $10,000 will be doubled! Your gifts will have twice the impact as we continue raising critical funds and spreading kindness today.

And great news—we’ve just reached Milestone 3—yay volunteers! 🎉 But we’re not done yet. Let’s keep those donations coming!

Milestone 3 = Honoring Volunteers!
Did you know that we have over 100 volunteers who are here 365 days of the year in ALL WEATHER … snowstorms, heatwaves, downpours - you name it, they show up. They prep about 50,000 meals each year, muck stalls, haul water, and get covered in mud, dust, and the occasional sloppy kiss from our residents.

If we can reach $3,500, we’ll set aside the next $300 and treat our dedicated volunteers to an amazing plant-based lunch by Lauren Montelbano at Vibrant Veg! 💚

We still need $1,000 more to hit our first milestone (Katie is waiting patiently with car keys in hand!) 🚗 Let’s get to $3,000 by 11:00, and not only will Katie head out to grab cozy new blankets for our pigs, but we’ll also have a special giveaway!

Good morning and welcome to Giving Tuesday!

As you’ve heard, we’re shaking things up this year by incorporating opportunities for YOU, our incredible community, to spread compassion while we raise the critical funds needed to keep our three core programs running strong!

Our goal is to raise at least $30,000, and we’re thrilled to kick things off with our first Match Challenge, made possible by the generosity of the Levy Giving Fund! They’ve pledged to match all gifts up to $5,000, effectively doubling the impact of your donations this morning! Each time we hit a fundraising milestone throughout the day, we’ll pause to announce an opportunity for you to get involved and help spread kindness—for the animals at Heartland, for the young people we serve, our volunteers, and beyond.

Milestone 1: Spread Compassion (Literally!) to Our Rescued Pigs

For our first opportunity, we’re starting with our Heartland rescues. If we can raise $2,500 by 10:00 this morning, the next $200 will go toward brand-new fleece blankets for our rescued pigs. These cozy blankets will be lovingly spread over pigs nestled in their straw beds, keeping them warm and comfy all winter long.

Right now, their donated blankets are full of holes and well past their prime. Humane Education Manager—and overt pig lover—Katie is ready to head out for the perfect replacements. The latest issue of our Snapshot is here, and in it, we pay tribute to one of the most incredible roosters we've had the pleasure of caring for and loving dearly, sweet Popcorn. 🐔✨ Popcorn was a cuddle bug who loved nothing more than to be by your side (or on your lap!) while you read him a story. He (and his best bud Tofu, who passed away last year) created so many ripples of compassion in their lifetimes. We'd love to hear your memories of Popcorn and see your photos - he was loved by so many. ❤️

Are you thankful for turkeys? ♥️✨ We are, too! This holiday season, we invite you to make a donation in honor of Heartland’s rescued turkeys, or turkeys everywhere!

Today, consider skipping the dinner table drama and help save a turkey instead! All donations help provide our feathered friends with warmth, food, safety, and love. Just take it from Monty (pictured here) who was rescued from severe neglect in April 2024 and has now found his forever home at Heartland.
