Vetiver ✨
Spice Level: 🌶️ Chipotle Pepper 😉
Age: 1.5-2 years
Favorite things: My food, your food, their food, a quick nap at the start of free roam, chew toys, puzzle toys
Partner in Crime: Patchouli (an innocent bystander!)

Vetiver came to us from .pint.sized.rescue where she had been surrendered as a lone rat. Her original owner bought her with the intention of breeding her with his male rat but she failed to get pregnant. While in rescue, Vetiver was treated for a URI. She also had a whirly tail which has since resolved itself.

Vetiver was very withdrawn and bitey, however, we like them spicy🌶️ When intros between Patchouli and the other herbs (Oregano, Catnip and Cecely) failed, we decided to foster-to-adopt Vetiver as a friend for Patchouli! Patchouli taught Vetiver to trust humans and she slowly came out of her shell. She is still more of a rat’s rat than a people rat but she’s happy and well adjusted now. She’s very smart and will run up when her name is called to check out a new treat or toy.

Besides a small issue with barbering fur along her feet and lower back, Vetiver has been otherwise healthy and now only bites people ✨ when they deserve it ✨ and not even hard so like calm down 💜🐀

Cinnamon ✨
Spice Level: 🫑 a sweet bell pepper ☺️
Nicknames: Cinnamonamon, Cinnamlems
Age: 7-9 months
Favorite things: Free roam, sunflower seeds, evading capture, being the baby
Partner in Crime: Cecely

TW: animal abuse, animal testing.

Curious baby Cinnamon came to us from A Pint-Sized Rescue where she had been rescued from a terrible situation. Cinnamon and her sister were originally bought by a vet tech student for illegal and inhumane practice for school (things like catheter placement and blood draws). They were eventually given to another vet tech student who ended up surrendering Cinnamon following the death of her sister. She was only 6 months old at the most but upon intake Cinnamon was tiny, thin, and had what I described as an old lady walk (kind of a hunch with stiffer movements). But Cinnamon was a fighter and full of the curiosity you would expect from a young rat. She slowly came out of her shell and gained weight. While she’ll always be a small rat, she is now healthy and happy 💜

It was love at first sight when I saw her small, white muzzle and big eyes but I was about to do introductions with my rats in a couple weeks and didn’t think the timing would work out. However, it did and Cinnamon ended up being the biggest reason why our intros went so smoothly. Our group has a lot of big personalities and have failed the last two intros attempted. Cinnamon was our perfect rat mediator! She was so happy to have friends and all rattos agreed to get along as long as they got to keep their new friend baby Cinnamon 🧡☺️
