Our Story

Our organization is dedicated to fostering, finding and placing Jack Russell Terriers in new homes. We need your help to save more Jacks.

Foster homes desperately needed. Our work would not be possible without our incredible foster homes. We do not have a physical facility and rely on our foster homes to help us save more JRTs. We support you ALL THE WAY. Click here to learn more.

Donate

JRTRO is funded by donations. Your donation will be used to pay for the rehabilitation of Jacks who have been neglected, abused, and abandoned. Jacks who are suffering from injury or illness and need immediate medical treatment, and vet costs. Donate here.

Our organization is growing and we’re looking for volunteers. Is that you or someone you know? JRTRO is run solely by volunteers ~ a wonderfully dedicated group, sharing a common vision to safeguard the wellbeing of every Jack Russell Terrier in our care. Click here to get involved.

Quick Facts

JRTRO is a “virtual” rescue and does not have a physical shelter. It is entirely volunteer run from our homes and dogs in the rescue are fostered in various foster homes throughout Ontario.

If you are interested in fostering, adopting or rehoming your dog, please access https://russellrescue.org/ which has important information about our organization and the REQUIRED forms to foster, adopt or relinquish your dog. This is where Petfinder profiles of dogs will be located as they become available for adoption.

Our adoption process includes: review of application, telephone interview, vet reference, visit to your home by one of our volunteers to meet you and your pets (if applicable) and a meeting with the dog at the foster’s home (or other mutually agreed to meeting place).

In the case of competition for particular dogs, the foster will be sent the best applications to determine which one is most suitable, as the foster is most aware of the dog's needs and characteristics.

We receive many applications daily. Please don't be upset if you don't receive an immediate response (or within a few days when no dogs are currently available.) We are volunteers and process applications when we have time.

We are a RESCUE and will not approve posts to our Facebook group from persons advertising sale of puppies (whether registered or backyard breeders). We WILL courtesy post dogs from other shelters and notifications of lost or found dogs.
