Getting ready for the CHA Region 1 Auction!!

Last night Carl and I went to our grandson’s fundraiser and came home with a couple treasures and I was thinking of the CHA Region 1 Silent Auction fundraiser for scholarships.

It is coming soon!!! Lisa Peterson and I would love to receive your items in some sort of basket … doesn’t have to be as fancy as this wrapped in cellophane, but be creative with buckets, wire baskets, crates, etc. It’s fun when items have a theme, they tend to raise more funds for scholarships than just random individual items.

As we always say, “This is not a yard sale but a fundraiser!” THANK YOU!!

December 13th is considered a special day in the US that celebrates the important role horses have played in the country's history, economy, military, and culture.

Those of us who love horses, and work with them know every day we celebrate them.

It would be fun to see pictures of the horses you’ve loved and worked with … I bet it would be a diverse herd! How many breeds and colors do you think there will be?

Please come alongside one of our CHA Program members that have sustained a huge loss. Hay, halters lead ropes, wheelbarrows, sweat scrapers etc. Located outside Yacolt, WA. Thankfully zero loss of life. Donation info in the comments.

Yesterday evening, we had a fire in our hay barn. By the time I arrived at the barn, it was fully engulfed. Unfortunately, one horse was in a paddock beside the barn and sustained burns. He is being transported to OSU for treatment by the Veterinarian hospital. The whole building is a total loss. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers, and offers of help they are much appreciated. The horses were turned out so they are safe.

Does your saddle have a flank cinch?

Here's some tack info that's good for every rider to know from my friends at Circle Y Saddles:

No matter if you're on the trail or in the arena, the flank cinch should be snug against your horse's belly and not hanging loose.
Always use the connector strap between the front and rear cinches to keep it secured and prevent it from becoming a bucking strap. To check your flank cinch's tightness, you should be able to fit two fingers between the flank and the apex of the horse's belly.
