National Senior Pet Month is about celebrating families like Duke’s who go above and beyond for their senior pets. 🐾

"Duke is almost 13- years old and has a hard time getting in the car for trips to vet. We bought this harness and used it for the first time yesterday. It was so helpful, and our trip to the vet was stress free. This is our first experience with a senior dog and it's definitely a lot of learning. I hope to share everything we have learned with other senior pet owners as well...I'm grateful to have the resources to care for him and give him the best life possible!" -

🐾 Honoring Blue 🐾 and the history of the harness, which grew from a prototype to a product, supporting over 500,000 pets since 2008!

This National Senior Pet Month, we’re sharing the heartfelt story behind our very first harness, inspired by an incredibly special dog named Blue. 🐶 As Blue aged and faced health challenges, her family was determined to keep her close and comfortable. This journey led Help 'Em Up's founders, Cary and Lindsey Zimmerman, to create a harness that would offer both support and dignity to dogs like Blue.

Today, our harness is still built with the same care and purpose as the very first one—providing the support you can count on when they need it most. 💛

Watch Cary and Lindsey share more about Blue and the heart behind our mission. 🎥

Our Story

The Help ‘Em Up Harness is a unique full-body lifting device that assists owners with aging dogs remain active when hip dysplasia, muscle loss, or surgical repair impairs a pet’s mobility and physical strength for every day functions – from getting up off the floor, up and down the stairs, or in and out of cars.

Veterinarians, neurologists and nurses use the harness for dogs rehabilitating after surgery or recovering from injuries. By placing a handle over the hips, and the shoulders, the Help ‘Em Up safely lifts from underneath the torso allowing you to help your dog get up, along with overcoming the daily obstacles of aging and getting around.

It will also help you lift without stress by using the handles on the harness, as the Help ‘Em Up is designed to distribute weight over the large surfaces of the chest and hind quarters. Veterinarians, surgeons, nurses and rehab therapists find this product as a useful aid to help their patients be lifted more comfortably post-surgery and to help them rehabilitate more easily.
