We wanted to let you know that we are currently restructuring our inventory at the Otter Point Veterinary Hospital. If you routinely purchase food, treats, or other pet products from us, we kindly ask that you call ahead to ensure the item you need is in stock.

If we don’t have your product on our shelves, don't worry! We can order it in for you, but we will need a few days’ notice to ensure it arrives in time. Please give us a call at 778-425-1425 and we will be happy to help.

We're sorry to have to make a post like this, but sadly, we had a deceased cat brought in to us yesterday by a good Samaritan. Unfortunately, his microchip was not registered so we are unable to locate his owners. We are posting this in hopes that someone may know who he belongs to.
The little one was found in the day use area of French Beach. He is a neutered male, black with white markings. No forms of identification other than the microchip. Appears to be younger, but unsure of age.
If you think you might have any information or know who he belongs to, please give our clinic a call at 778-425-1425.
(We will be contacting ROAM and FLEC as well.)

📢 Exciting News! 📢
As of September 9, 2024, the Otter Point Veterinary Hospital will have a new owner! After 14 years of dedicated ownership, Dr. Erik Wirtanen has decided to sell his practice and pass the torch onto Dr. Brie Hamblin.

Dr. Wirtanen will still be around occasionally for locum services, but he's looking forward to a well-deserved retirement from veterinary medicine. We thank him for his incredible dedication and care over the years.

Join us in warmly welcoming Dr. Brie Hamblin to our team! We're thrilled for this exciting new chapter. Here’s a little more about Dr. Hamblin:

Dr. Hamblin graduated from the Western College of Veterinary medicine in 2008. She has experience in companion animal practice, shelter animal medicine, emergency and critical care and equine general practice.

Dr. Hamblin is a firm believer in the power of knowledge and continuing education and has a special interest in blending Western and Eastern medicine and integrative therapies to achieve maximum pet health. She is a Chi University certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA, 2023) and has her Rehabilitation and Performance certification (CERPV 2023). She loves sharing what she learned in her studies with her clients to educate them on the value of prevention as the best means of avoiding illness and disease.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Hamblin actively participates in horseback riding, swimming, and hiking. She has been married for 9 years to her wonderful husband, Adam, and they have two young boys that love to fish and swim. The whole family cannot wait to learn how to fish in the ocean.

Dr. Hamblin is eagerly looking forward to building lasting relationships with both furry companions and their human families in this beautiful coastal community.

Please be advised that between July 22nd to August 14th, the Ministry of Transportation is doing some sewer upgrades. There may be periodic waits upon entering and exiting the work zone, which will be outside the clinic.
Please keep this in mind when coming for appointments.

We want to keep you informed about important upcoming changes to the animal import rules into the USA. Starting August 1st, 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are implementing new regulations that will affect how you bring your canine friends into the USA.

To ensure you have all the latest information and to avoid any surprises, please check the updated guidelines on the CDC website.

One of the requirements for travel into the USA is ensuring that your canine friend has an ISO-compatible microchip. The Victoria Humane Society will be having a microchip clinic at the Pet-A-Palooza event on Saturday August 10th. Check out the VHS page for more information.
