I don't have the latest updates on this case. I was filled in on things this morning. I do know there was a lot involved. Once again, our friends at Citizens Against Animal Abuse and Neglect worked on this case all day. They don't ever give up! Go over to their page and give them a thank you for all the behind the scenes work they do that you never see. Thank you Citizens, for all the hours you put in every day to save animals of Kentucky and beyond. And if you would like to help this dog, please reach out to Treasured Paws of Kentucky.

💔Please share to help get Harley home where his broken heart can mend. 💔

Meet Harley! Harley found himself in the Boyd County, KY Animal Shelter after his owner passed. Harley has been there almost a year. That's much too long for any dog, let alone one with a broken heart. Let's get Harley out of the shelter and into his forever home.

Harley is an awesome dog! He's so smart, friendly and is house trained. He's a Staffordshire terrier, almost 3 and has been here at the shelter since March of last year. We don't know why someone hasn't adopted this beautiful boy already!

Help with transportation can be arranged! 🚗

Remember Chief? ARK alumni, Chief was left behind for weeks in an abandoned home after his owners moved without him. This is what his new owners have to say about Chief now, and of course a before and after picture. Your donations help us help dogs like Chief!

"For a dog, Chief did a remarkable thing tonight. He showed that he recognizes what some of us adults haven't learned in our many trips around the sun. In the grand scheme of things, it's nothing. But for just a dog? Like...Way to go, Chief.

First, for some quick background. Chief had been abandoned by his owner in a trailer all alone. With no food. And maybe some water in a toilet bowl, that sustained him for a time.

When he was found by the police, after a neighbor reported hearing him, he was just a skeleton. It was miraculous that he was still alive. The neighbor took him in temporarily but had to ask ARK, a dog rescue group to fund all his medical care in the the case that he might regain his health. The agreement with the rescue group is that once Chief got a clean bill of health, she would show him to possible forever families and homes. And she did that for him.

That's when I saw a post about Chief and how smart and eager to please they had discovered him to be. Just from a few pictures I fell completely in love with him and asked to meet him. On the day he was to arrive to my home for a meeting, I wasn't sure if he would be ready for a new person to take him in. I was told he was scared of most people but he had gotten extremely attached to the neighbor and she to him. My understanding is she already had a ton of puppies and not a lot of space or resources but I think she would have been willing to keep him had the rescue group not been able to find him a home.

Luckily for me, Chief fell in love with me at first sight too. It wasn't in the plan but the rescue woman agreed to let me keep him from that moment forward until Chief got a clean bill of health and my adoption of him was finalized.

Chief was ten times the well mannered pet that I expected him to be. So we took Chief with us everywhere. And Chief worked out perfectly here. Except for the fact that he is not the only pet. I have 3 other beggers when they sniff me eating something good. And as long as I'm full and its pet friendly for them to eat, I will share a couple bites with each of them. By just putting whatever is left in the floor for them to share. But because Chief has been starved he would basically inhale everything before any of them can have a bite. So from the very beginning I've tried to talk him gently through waiting for a minute and then getting him a bite. But not getting it all. And then pausing so the other two can have a bite and then finally getting him one more bite.

We've been doing that ritual for a year. Just in that order. Well tonight I put a plate of leftover food down for the three of them. Chief looked at me first thing, expecting me to harness his cravings for him a little bit and make sure he shared but this time I did not intervene.

I watched as Chief took a small bite. Paused to let the other pets eat a little bit and then take a final bite. Just as we have practiced a million times but this time purely at his own accord. Chief knows he could easily make sure he got every bite and nobody else have a chance. But he has learned that he should share. And that he is not to feel like he has to have everything right now. Because what is for him will come to him without him having to be stingy. I am so proud of Chief for all he has learned in a year's time. That is a lot to learn, even if you're a human. But I never imagined it can be learned if you're just a dog."

I am proud to be Chief's "Rescue Woman!"

Florian hopes someone out there will give a boy a chance…. At a family, at having every happy day, at furever love.

He is around 2.5 years old, has passed his cat test, does fine with older kids. He does not meet other dogs well but does do fine with female dogs with slow intros. He just wants his family to find him.
